What the gurus are saying

Gurus overwhelmingly favor Juvederm for its reversibility and safety profile. The standout benefit is that hyaluronidase can dissolve the filler within seconds if results are unsatisfactory or complications arise, including vascular occlusion. Cost (typically $700-$750 per syringe) and diffusion behavior are the main concerns, with one injector noting it spreads more than some alternatives. Most doctors recommend it as a reliable, forgiving choice.

"Juvederm is the hyaluronic acid filler that adds volume. We can use hyaluronic acid to give you a little bit of a lift. With Juvederm I can structure chins, I can structure cheeks, I can fill in temples and halls. That one is more hydration."

"The only fillers that I recommend are hyaluronic acid fillers like Restylane or Juvederm or Teoxane. With hyaluronic acid fillers there is an antidote called hyaluronidase which is an enzyme that can melt that filler away some of it within literal seconds so if you have a lump that you're not happy with we can inject hyaluronidase to melt it away. Or if you get the dreaded intravascular occlusion where filler is accidentally injected into an artery causing loss of blood flow to a part of your face then we can try to melt that filler away and reestablish the blood flow."

"I encourage you to stick with hyaluronic acid-based fillers like Restylane or Juvederm. The good thing about these fillers is that they are reversible. We have a reversal agent called hyaluronidase that we can inject into those fillers in case they become lumpy or you don't like it to basically melt that filler away."

"Some people prefer Juvederm. I'm not a fan of Juvederm to be very honest with you because I think it diffuses and people are confusing that with filler migration."

"Juvederm is a traditional hyaluronic acid-based filler, essentially a gel that we use to sculpt and support the face."
