"If you have oily acne prone skin and you need a sunscreen that feels good on your skin, kind of gives you a nice satin finish, this is absolutely one of my favorites, one of the best. It's really great and lightweight if you can handle the peeling or if you aren't layering it with a bunch of stuff, but I just found that the actual application was lackluster."

"The Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Watery Sun Gel SPF50 is one I have recommended and raved about in the past and I love it. It's a very similar formulation to the Skin1004 sunscreen, but it has hyaluronic acid in it, so if you don't care for hyaluronic acid in your skincare stick to the Skin1004 sunscreen, and if you enjoy it consider this one instead. It leaves a very nice dewy finish, not greasy and not too shiny but not cloyingly matte either, sufficiently moisturizing to keep the skin barrier happy and hydrated."

What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

Niacinamide

Niacinamide has evidence behind it for redness, uneven tone and supporting the skin barrier, and it is usually well tolerated even by skin that reacts to most things.

Sunscreen filters

Sun protection is the best evidenced way to slow visible ageing, and the filters are what does the work. Mineral and chemical filters both protect when a product is applied thickly enough and often enough, which is where most people fall short rather than on the choice of filter.

Ceramides

Ceramides are part of the skin's own barrier, and moisturisers built around them have evidence for holding water in and settling the tightness and flaking that come with a damaged barrier.
