What the gurus are saying

The experts who tested it praise how seamlessly it applies and plays well under makeup, making it a reliable choice for water activities and everyday wear. It's a pure mineral formula that doesn't irritate or sting, though those with dry skin may want to layer a good moisturizer underneath first, since this one isn't particularly hydrating. A small white cast can appear on deeper skin tones, but foundation or tinted moisturizer typically cancels it out.

"The first one is from Isdin Eryfotona Actinica SPF 50+. So it's a Spanish brand. They make elegant sunscreens and this one is really popular among dermatologists because not only is it a pure mineral filter, great for anyone with dry and sensitive skin. It's lightweight and elegant fluid-like but does not leave a white cast. I believe it's also water resistant but it's got high SPF protection SPF 50 but also has this unique DNA repair zone that is unique to it, so it helps to repair DNA damage that has basically happened or accumulated in your skin. So not only is it protecting your skin but can actually reverse some of that damage that's happening to your skin. And I have some dermatology colleagues that swear that when their patients are wearing this regularly, the amount of sun damage, so aka activated keratosis, which is actually sometimes we even call it precancerous spots, actually goes down. So it's a great way to not only protect your skin, but also reverse some of the actual sun damage happening to your skin. But overall, it's just a really nice, elegant mineral sunscreen. It doesn't cause irritation, doesn't burn or sting."

"This is a true staple in my routine and my mother-in-law's routine. It contains photolysase, which are DNA repair enzymes that help reverse existing UV induced damage. It has this really fast absorbing, lightweight texture that doesn't peel under makeup. Initially when you put it on, you might notice a little bit of a white cast, but the more you rub it in, it really does go away. This is mineral-based broadspectrum UVA UVB coverage, contains zinc oxide, and it really layers very well under makeup, BB creams, anything else you want to put on top of it. It also contains vitamin E for that antioxidant protection against free radicals."

"Another untinted mineral sunscreen that I really like is the Isdin Eryfotona Actinica SPF 50. It goes on really seamlessly and plays well under makeup. It does leave a little bit of a white cast on my skin, but I'm typically wearing it under a little bit of foundation or tinted moisturizer and that cancels that out. This uses 11% zinc oxide as the mineral filter and it's water resistant for 40 minutes. This is actually probably the most common mineral sunscreen that I use on my son when we're going into the water or going to the pool or the beach. One thing that's important to note about this sunscreen is that it's not a particularly moisturizing sunscreen, so I think it's actually really nice if you have oily skin, but if you have dry skin I would put a good layer of moisturizer on first before layering this on top."
