What the gurus are saying

Gurus consistently flag Irish Spring as drying and potentially problematic for sensitive skin, eczema, or dry skin due to its heavy fragrance and stripping formula. While one reviewer praises the nostalgic scent, dermatologists caution that the fragrance can irritate and deplete skin's natural oils. A secondary use emerges: the soap works as an inexpensive room deodorizer, similar to a candle.

"I keep repurchasing it largely because of nostalgia and I used to use this back in secondary school. I think that it is so good. One thing I like about Irish Spring is the fresh fragrance that you get with it. It smells like heavenly in my opinion. It smells really good. And if you're someone who is looking for something to cleanse the body and also have a very nice fragrance linger afterwards, then consider Irish Spring."

"I think that Irish Spring is really underrated. I feel like this has been one of my favorite soaps from when I was like a child. I just love the fragrance that you get with Irish Spring. I know that some people don't like it, but I like it a lot. Like since I was in secondary school, I've loved Irish Spring."

"If you have eczema, atopic dermatitis, or just dry skin, be careful with fragrance soaps like this. Yes, it smells great, but heavily scented soaps can worsen dry skin. That heavy fragrance will strip your skin of its natural oils and dry you out even more. So, don't use Irish Spring or heavily scented soaps."

"Irish Spring is a very drying bar soap, but it's on sale $9.49. Albeit, it does deodorize spaces. Well, it's kind of like an alternative to a candle, especially good in a closet to put a bar of Irish Spring."

"the them soaps ain't it the Dial soap the Irish Spring even them Dr... the Castile soap people that stuff can be really drying on the skin so take heed you want want something nice and moisturizing if you're someone with particularly sensitive skin look for things that are fragrance-free because then you know fragrance can be a top irritant."
