    What the gurus are saying

The device's 2,500 mW output and 500-diode array (300 lasers and 200 LEDs) delivers clinical-grade power in a hands-free helmet that covers the whole scalp, and dermatologists report visible thickening, density gains, and notably less shedding within 3 to 4 months of daily use. Clinical studies show a 43% increase in hair count after 4 months. The technology works by improving follicle metabolism, boosting blood flow, and calming inflammation, and pairs well alongside topical minoxidil or other hair loss treatments if needed.

"The iRestore Elite is the closest I've found to the original laser cap that uses all laser diodes. It combines LED and laser diodes with 500 diodes total including 300 lasers and 200 LEDs, using three red light wavelengths of 625, 655, and 680 nanometers. It's only a 12-minute treatment and comes with a battery pack to attach. I have been finding this to be a very comparable device at a much lower price, in the $1,500 to $1,900 range compared to all-laser devices that start at around $3,000."

"I upgraded. I'm really, really glad I did. I mean, I feel like it is worth the price difference. The Elite is significantly more powerful than the Pro. The helmet has LEDs and laser diodes. LEDs to cover a larger surface area. The laser diodes, on the other hand, go deeper and they target the follicles and really stimulate them. I think it's important to make the distinction between the many LED hair devices around and the ones that also have laser diodes, which in my experience is even more effective than when it's just LED alone. The Pro has 282 laser diodes and LEDs, whereas the Elite has 500 of them. So, 300 laser diodes and 200 LEDs. There's also three different laser wavelengths to get deeper and stimulate the follicles, but also there is more energy output, 2500 megawatts versus 1400. So, it really is getting in there and just stimulating. You want those dormant follicles reactivated. This also works to extend the growth phase of the hair cycle. This is the easiest daily 12 minutes. I have the hands-free option, so I just go about doing whatever I need to. It's also breathable, really comfortable the way it's shaped. It doesn't mess up my hairline. And most of all, I feel like this has worked really fast."

"This is not a laser that you can feel, it's called a cold laser because it does not generate heat. Now there are many laser helmets out there and laser combs and other similar devices, but after doing my research I decided on the iRestore Pro laser helmet, which has 282 diodes, and after using it for a couple years I recently upgraded to the new iRestore Elite laser helmet, and this has 500 diodes. I will warn you that these laser helmets are very pricey, but if you want to try it out there's a link in the caption below to check it out."

"We did purchase the iRestore Elite version, but I really think any version would work well for you. This thing was very expensive and I even got the additional battery pack, so I think I spent over $2,000 on this product. It came pretty quickly and it seems to work pretty well. I mean it's really intuitive to use. It's about 12 minutes per day that she's using it and she just does it while the baby is napping or during any time, but she's been very consistent with this. She hasn't had any issues with it so far and it seems to work."

"This is the iRestore Elite, which is their new one out on the market. You only have to wear it for 12 minutes. There's not another one out on the market like this. This is the only one I have for hair because it is by far, I mean it's not even close, the best on the market. It's expensive but it's the best on the market."

"I personally decided to try out red light therapy myself several years ago when I was going through a period of excessive hair shedding after training for and running a marathon. After researching the different at-home devices available, I tried out a few different models and decided that iRestore far and away was the most powerful, the most robust option that if anything was going to make a difference, it would be this device. After using it consistently for about three months, I really started noticing not only a decrease in hair shedding, but the hair that was growing back was thicker, and I was having more fullness compared to how my hair was before. One of the things I appreciated most about this device was how easy it is to use - it's hands-free so you can multitask while wearing it and takes just 12 minutes a day. The device I continue to use today is iRestore Elite, which is FDA-cleared, non-invasive, and a drug-free option you can use in the privacy of your own home. It is evidence-based and has shown to be effective for hair loss disorders. It is my go-to recommendation for people looking for a low-level laser therapy device for hair restoration."

New Hair Loss Treatments in 2026 | Dermatologist Explains What Actually Works
"I was looking for something I could use in the privacy of my own home that would be easy to keep up with, and I didn't want to pursue any kind of medication to improve thickness, density, and get some regrowth. I've been using iRestore Elite for years now, and I have appreciated an improvement in thickness, density, and overall a significant reduction in hair shedding. iRestore Elite is the most powerful at-home low-level laser device on the market. It has 500 diodes, which includes 300 lasers and 200 LEDs, which allows for both broad and consistent scalp coverage. It delivers a total output of 2,500 mW, which is comparable to what you would get with an in-clinic treatment. It's FDA-cleared and dermatologist-recommended. The design is very easy to use, it's comfortable, it's lightweight, and the scalp coverage is above and beyond what many other competitive devices on the market offer, with great coverage of both the sides and the back. It only takes 12 minutes a day, and it's easy to multitask when you're doing it. With consistent use, many users begin to see improvements in as little as 3 months. Clinical studies demonstrate a 43% increase in hair count within 4 months of consistent use. One of the biggest benefits is that if you stick with it, not only does it offer the ability to increase thickness and density, but you kind of build on that."
Dermatologist’s Top Hair Care Favorites of 2025
"Their device is clinically proven and FDA cleared. It just takes 12 minutes a day. It's really easy to do, completely hands-free. I'm always multitasking when I do it, and that makes it really easy to stay consistent. Devices like this, they only work if you stay consistent with them. I've personally seen visible improvements in hair thickness, density, and a reduction in overall shedding. My central part is somewhat narrower. I have more fullness around the temples, and I am always getting these little baby hairs of new growth. Many users begin to see results in as early as 3 months. Some studies demonstrate upwards of 43% increase in hair count after about 4 months, which for a non-invasive at-home option is pretty impressive. What has made this device really worth the investment and has motivated me to continue using it is the fact that it's something that supports healthy hair growth. It's easy to do, non-invasive. It doesn't require any in-office procedures, although it can be used alongside other hair loss treatments. It pairs really well with good scalp care and hair care practices as well. This device for me has made a huge difference and I continue to use it."
The TRUTH About Red Light Therapy for Skin and Hair
"I currently am using their newest device, iRestore Elite. I've been using this for almost 2 years now. I want to say it's one of the most powerful at home options available on the market. It has a 2500 mW output. That's one of the highest outputs of any at-home hair growth device on the market. It uses triple wavelength technology, specifically 625 nm, 655 nm, and 680 nm. These are all wavelengths well within the therapeutic range. It has a huge 500 diode array providing full scalp coverage, far more than most of their competitors. It's FDA cleared and clinically proven, which is something I always look for and recommend people to look out for when choosing a device to use at home. It's just 12 minutes a day and you can do it hands-free. You can multitask when you're doing it. I have really come to enjoy it as part of my everyday routine. It uses LEDs and lasers, which work together to offer broad coverage plus follicle focus stimulation. It comes with a 12-month money back guarantee."
Hair Care Tips For Your Healthiest Hair Over 40
"This year I started using their newer Elite device, it's a lot more powerful than the professional device. I continue to see an improvement in hair strand thickness and integrity. I get much less breakage and I have substantially less hair shedding since implementing this device above and beyond what I was getting with their professional device. The device uses vertical cavity surface emitting lasers which have a circle shape, and these lasers are known for their efficiency at low power and for providing better comprehensive scalp coverage. And then the LEDs, which stands for light emitting diodes, they really spread the energy to a wider area, so the combination of lasers and LEDs really make this a very powerful and scalp comprehensive device. Plus the construction of the helmet really gives you optimal total coverage of the scalp hitting key areas of hair loss."
Dermatologist Reviews the Most Purchased Skincare of 2025
"The iRestore Elite helps increase energy of the follicular cells and gets dormant hair follicles back into the growing phase. It also helps reduce inflammation in the scalp and improve circulation to the follicle to deliver growth factors and nutrients. iRestore makes some of the best devices in my opinion on the market, and their elite device is actually the most powerful device that you could get. It delivers 2500 matts of total power output. Inside the helmet, there are 500 total diodes, which include 300 lasers and 200 LEDs, allowing for broad scalp coverage and targeted follicle stimulation. It's really easy to do at home, it just takes 12 minutes and you can do it hands-free and multitask while doing it. It's wonderful for improving thickness, density, and if you deal with androgenetic alopecia, especially in the earlier stages, it can really help you retain the hairs that you do have in the growing cycle and improve thickness, fullness, and overall density of hair growth. It can be used in conjunction with other hair loss treatments like minoxidil or PRP. [...] You have to do it regularly in order to get and maintain results, so if it's not something you feel like you can commit to, then I don't suggest getting it. It is an investment, but something that I think pays off dividends so long as you continue to use it."

"Red and infrared for the scalp, which is something I use, the iRestore Elite device. Great for improving scalp circulation, improve the cellular metabolism in the follicle, allowing hairs to be in the growing phase, and also helpful for scalp circulation to bring in growth factors to nourish the follicle. It can be very effective for them."
Why Am I Shedding So Much Hair? A Dermatologist Explains
"The iRestore Elite device in particular is actually the most powerful device on the market. It has a 2500 milliwatt output which is comparable to in-clinic treatments. It uses 500 diodes which include 300 lasers and 200 LEDs. This really provides broad scalp coverage and importantly targeted follicle delivery. My personal experience using the device really sealed the deal. I understand how the technology works. I had confidence in the device. But after using it myself, I was like, "This is definitely the real deal." And I've continued to recommend their devices for years now. The iRestore Elite, it's FDA cleared. It's non-invasive, and it's drug-free, and it's super easy to comply with. Just 12 minutes a day, and you can multitask while you're wearing it. Beyond the physical benefits of an improvement in thickness, density, and a reduction in hair shedding, the emotional benefits can outweigh those physical benefits on your hair as well. Having something that you can do consistently in the privacy of your own home, it is empowering."
Tackle Menopausal Hair Loss At Home With iRESTORE Elite
"I have previously been using their professional device for many years and loving the results. I have noted an improvement in overall density and thickness. I've been using the elite for about 3 months and I'm definitely still seeing an improvement in thickness and density. The device itself offers extended scalp coverage and the number and power of the combination of lasers and LEDs leads to an effective treatment option for androgenetic alopecia, commonly referred to as pattern hair loss. I really like that iRestore in contrast to many of its competitors on the market offers a money back guarantee. If you are not completely satisfied with the device after a year you can get your money back. Hair growth does not happen overnight, it takes time, and it'll take time to see results. I really appreciate that about iRestore. You're always going to have that person who's like well maybe I just haven't been using it long enough, but I really respect them for carrying out that window to a more reasonable 12 months because it is an upfront investment but it definitely can make a difference."

"I Restore Elite is a low-level laser therapy device that I personally have been using for years. I started with their professional device and then when they came out with the elite device I upgraded to that and it has been amazing because what these devices do they help to improve three things: circulation to the follicle, so that helps with delivering the nutrients necessary to grow hair which is a very energy demanding task. Second they help with the cellular metabolism of the follicle cells getting them to re-enter the growing phase, reawaken in a sense dormant follicles. Third, they reduce inflammation, which as a side note can be particularly helpful if you're dealing with bouts of scalp itch. That reduction in scalp inflammation can really help. Not to mention, it favors a better environment for healthy hair growth. So, I've been using that for years now. I absolutely love it. The biggest changes I've seen is a reduction in hair shedding and an improvement in density and thickness. What it does is it keeps more hairs in the growing phase of the hair cycle. I also love that it's really easy to use, handsfree. It's become part of my routine and it's amazing."
The Real Reason Your Hair Is Thinning (It’s NOT Just Genetics)
"When they came out with the iRestore Elite, I was able to start using that and I got results above and beyond what I had gotten with the professional device. And I continue to use the Elite device. It has been amazing for improving thickness, fullness, reducing shedding. I've really seen noticeable changes, not just thicker, fuller hair, which I started observing probably about 3 or 4 months in, but also just healthier scalp conditions, which we know allow for better hair growth long term. The iRestore Elite is the most powerful device on the market with 2,500 matts of power and a shorter treatment time of just 12 minutes per day. In clinical studies, the Elite device showed a 43% increase in hair count in just 4 months. It's FDA cleared, dermatologist recommended, and it offers full and comprehensive scalp coverage without requiring your hands. You can do the treatment while watching TV, watching a YouTube video, working, relaxing, doing a load of laundry."
Why Your Hair Texture Changes After 40 | Dermatologist Explains Scalp Aging
"I upgraded to the iRestore Elite and I've noticed even more benefits since using that device in comparison to the professional device I used in the past. The iRestore Elite delivers 2500 mWs of total power output, which makes it one of the most powerful at-home LED hair growth systems on the market, comparable to in-clinic treatments. It contains 500 diodes total, which includes 300 lasers and 200 LEDs. This arrangement provides comprehensive scalp coverage and targeted follicle stimulation so the light energy can maximally get to the follicle cells. Low-level laser therapy is an evidence-based intervention for at-home hair regrowth. It works by improving the hair follicle cell energy usage and metabolism, improving blood flow to the hair follicle, and reducing scalp inflammation. Those three things together are how this treatment works. This is actually evidence-based and more research has come out even recently demonstrating that yes, this is a viable and effective at-home option. Best of all, the treatment is really easy. It's just 12 minutes a day."

Biggest Haircare Regrets 2025: Lessons Learned
"It really addresses multiple aspects of the hair loss process to support your hair growth journey and it can be done in the comfort and privacy of your own home. I recommend the iRestore Elite device. I have been using iRestore devices for a long time now and I am a loyal user myself, and I have seen firsthand the power these devices have in terms of improving overall thickness and fullness. For myself personally, I have just seen my hair completely turn a corner using their devices over the years. It's actually the most powerful device on the market. It uses a combination of medical grade lasers and LEDs to deliver evidence-based wavelengths of light to the follicle. The technology allows for the delivery of the wavelengths of light deep to exactly where they need to go in the follicle very precisely, as well as providing good comprehensive coverage of the scalp. The way that the iRestore Elite is shaped, the shape of the helmet, it really provides comprehensive scalp coverage. All it takes is 12 minutes a day. It has become part of my everyday routine and I personally find that it's very relaxing to do. I multitask while I am wearing it."

Exosomes for Hair Loss: Do They Really Work? Dermatologist Explains
"iRestore Elite is the most powerful low-level laser therapy device on the market for hair restoration, and it's super easy to stick with, just 12 minutes a day that fits into your day-to-day routine without any disruptions. It delivers 2,500 mW of total output through 500 light sources, including 300 medical-grade lasers and 200 LEDs, delivering broad scalp coverage while directing clinically established wavelengths of light to the follicle. It's FDA-cleared, completely non-invasive, and drug-free. One treatment I have consistently incorporated into my routine for the past going on like 7, 8 years almost, is low-level laser therapy using iRestore devices. This is one of the few at-home technologies with actual clinical proof that it legitimately works, and personally for me, it has made a difference. It can be used on its own for hair restoration, but it also can be used in conjunction with other hair loss treatments like minoxidil, PRP, topical finasteride, oral finasteride, oral dutasteride, and in some cases you might even get better results than using either treatment alone. Clinical studies demonstrated a 43% increase in hair count after 4 months of consistent use, and many people begin noticing thicker, fuller hair in as little as 3 months. Personally, one of the biggest differences I've noticed is an improvement in density around the hairline, a reduction in shedding, and an overall improvement in fullness and thickness of the hair. Hair restoration is a long game, there is no slam dunk one-and-done treatment, but one of the reasons I like recommending it is that it's evidence-based and clinically backed. Over 600,000 customers have used iRestore, and they offer an industry-leading 12-month risk-free trial."
DHT Blockers for Hair Loss: What Actually Works? | Dermatologist Explains
"I continue to recommend the iRestore Elite, a device for hair restoration that uses low-level laser therapy, an evidence-based intervention for healthy hair growth in androgenetic alopecia in both men and women, with several good studies supporting its use alone or in combination with other hair loss treatments. I tested several devices on the market and landed on iRestore's devices. Honestly, they are the best out there in my opinion, not only because of their comfortable design and broad scalp coverage, but they're some of the most powerful devices you're going to come across. The iRestore Elite, which is what I currently use, is the most powerful FDA cleared light therapy device. It features 500 total diodes, including 300 medical grade lasers and 200 LEDs, and delivers 2500 milliwatts of total output, comparable to many in office treatments. Using it could not be simpler, just 12 minutes a day, hands free, and it's a completely drug free option. Clinical studies showed up to a 43% increase in hair count after just 4 months, though many people start noticing thicker hair as soon as 3 months. Personally, I really enjoy using the device, I find it kind of relaxing at this point. The biggest difference I've noticed over the years is a marked reduction in hair shedding and an improvement in hair thickness and density."

"I've been working with them because I have used several red light devices over the years and I'm absolutely obsessed with their iRestore Elite red light helmet. I probably noticed my hair thinning about 41, so 2 to 3 years ago. I've tried several topicals, also supplements, and they helped. I'm not going to say they didn't, but I really also wanted to add something that was non-invasive that I can do at home and that's going to help support my hair follicles and health in a different way. I've tested a few devices over the last couple years and the iRestore Elite is the one I stayed consistent with because it was more powerful, easy to use, and had solid clinical evidence behind it. It has 500 total diodes. 300 of the lasers and 200 of the LEDs. So you're combining your lasers and the LEDs."

"For hair and specifically for hair regrowth it's been studied time and time again and used medically in clinic. This little device is my Saving Grace. I've spoken about this so many times. This is the elite which is absolutely fantastic. The main difference is that this has 500 diodes and it has different wavelengths. For me it's easier to stick to something if I make it a habit every day like this 12 minutes a day rather than doing the white one three times a week. This has made monumental differences in my hair and I actually am so glad that I've spoken about this online for so long because I have these before and after photos where you can actually track the progress of my hair and the low-level laser therapy."

3 Years Of Hair Loss: Comparing the IRestore Pro vs Elite for Hairloss *non sponsored*
"The Elite one has three different wavelengths whereas this one only had one wavelength. Now that's totally fine, this still works if you want this, if it's within your budget or if you already have this it is great, but it does have less power, less diodes, and you use it in a different manner, three times a week instead of once a day. Based on your budget and your needs this is still a great option, but I will say I can feel the power with this one. When I first started using the Elite one it came out in October of 2023, I was actually surprised, I was like my scalp is getting warm, why is it warm? It doesn't hurt, but I've used this for years and it doesn't get warm. This I can actually feel, I can feel it right now, it's like a light warming sensation and it's not tingling, it's not bad, but I can feel the power, like this is some powerful stuff, whereas with this one I actually didn't feel it at all. This has a single wavelength of 655 nanometers which is right in the middle of that red, that's fantastic because it penetrates deep into the skin, helps with collagen stimulation, helps with anti-inflammatory benefits, basically taking down inflammation, and helps to stimulate blood flow and circulation. But the Elite one has three different wavelengths: it has 620, 655, and 680."
5 Things I Wish I Knew Before Starting iRestore Hair Growth Helmet
"I do notice a difference between the professional and the elite. This is 12 minutes a day every day, whereas the professional is 25 minutes every couple of days or three times a week. I did love the professional and I saw results, but I am seeing much faster results with the Elite. And just on a personal perspective, if I can do something daily it's easier for me to make it a habit, like before I go to bed when I'm reading, when I brush my teeth, whereas if I'm doing something just three times a week, with me and my schedules it could be rough. I also wish I would have known that you need need need to take photos of your hair because you look at yourself in the mirror every single day and you don't see if there's a difference or not. Especially other people that I recommended this to, they start using it and they're like, I don't really see growth, and then 5, 6 months in they're like, holy crap my hair is amazing, but they weren't taking pictures and they couldn't look back and see that growth was happening over time. It does take time for your hair to grow. If your hair is there, this can definitely help keep it on the scalp, but you need to take photos so you can see your progress."

"If you've got money, if you're not afraid to spend it, or if you're going to go for a hair transplant or someone you know is going to go for a hair transplant anyways, you might as well try this. This is the iRestore Elite with the carrying device and this has changed my life in the best ways. This is a hair regrowth helmet, it helps you keep the hair you have and stimulate new hair growth, and I freaking love this. This works so well, it has like 500 lasers. You can just do it in 12 minutes a day, and this has both LED and laser, so it's both of those modalities given directly to the head, and I love using this with the little battery pack so you can walk around the house and do things while regrowing your hair. For anyone who is losing hair and for anyone who is stressed over it like me, this has been amazing."
