    What the gurus are saying

This dimethicone-based formula holds a potent 22% vitamin C concentration without the irritation a water-based serum at that strength would typically cause. The silicone base also keeps it remarkably stable, resisting oxidation far longer than water-based alternatives. It's particularly good for anyone with sensitive skin or who doesn't use up serums quickly.

"You could also try the Indeed Labs Vitamin C24 brightening drops this would be a great introduction to ascorbic acid as this one isn't as strong and as powerful as this or let's say the Timeless 20% vitamin C but it's still a great option that you can easily find at your local drugstore"

"This is the Vitamin C24 by Indeed Labs. This is actually quite a high concentration of vitamin C, but because it's in a silicone dimethicone base it doesn't irritate the way the other equivalent strength water-based vitamin C's would. It's also super stable, so this isn't going to oxidize as quick as your water-based serums. So that just makes it a great option, particularly if you've got skin sensitivity or you don't go through your vitamin C's as quickly as some other people and you want a longer shelf life. This is a really great option."

BESTSELLING VITAMIN C SERUMS - I Was Shocked
"One viral vitamin C that I do continue to have on hand because it works for me on certain days is the Indeed Labs Vitamin C24. So again it's got a number in the title so for that I expect it to correlate to what you're getting and in this case it does: it's 2% hyaluronic acid, 22% vitamin C together making that 24. Very clear. This is what I mean by transparency and I applaud Indeed Labs for this. And this is actually a dimethicone-based vitamin C. So all of the vitamin C's that I've mentioned so far are water-based that's great, sinks in, lays beautifully well with the rest of your skincare, less risk of peeling and it boiling up. So water-based vitamin C's are amazing but they tend to oxidize a little bit quicker because vitamin C and water inherently unstable. Now you can get around that by using a product like the Indeed Labs which is dimethicone-based. Dimethicone also allows for the vitamin C to be at a higher concentration without triggering irritation. So 22% vitamin C would be a no-go for my skin in a water-based serum but in a dimethicone-based one it seems to be fine. And this is generally something that you'll find if you've got very sensitive skin, using a dimethicone-based vitamin C can usually help minimize the irritation but still maximize the results. So I like that and it's a good option I think for people that like a dimethicone silicon-based vitamin C."

VITAMIN C SERUMS - What We Now Know ( How To Use Vitamin C )
"This is the Indeed Labs Vitamin C24. This actually has a 22% concentration of pure form vitamin C that's sky high, and normally you'd expect to get a lot of irritation with this, but you don't because it's paired in a dimethicone base that not only extends the shelf span of this product, meaning it's going to oxidize a lot slower than in a water-based formulation, but also it can just minimize the sensitivity and irritation. So if you want to go for a higher potency vitamin C but you're worried about some of the side effects, go for one like this in a dimethicone base, because I think you'll get some great results and a lot less sensitivity than from a water-based formulation. Dimethicone like I say can get a bit of a bad rep online, but providing it works well for your skin, absolutely a dimethicone-based vitamin C could be a holy grail, and that one by Indeed Labs is one of my favorites."

"This is one of my top recommendations for a vitamin C serum. It is just really really nice and it lasts so long. My first tube of this has now been open for over 18 months, which is more than a year and a half. I've kept it at room temperature, not in a fridge or anything, and there is brown stuff on the thread and also inside the cap, but it is still a really pale color. It is much less oxidized than newer formulas that I've tried."

    What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

    Vitamin C

Topical vitamin C is an antioxidant with reasonable evidence for dullness and uneven tone. It breaks down in light and air, so how a product is formulated and packaged matters as much as the percentage on the front.

    Humectants and emollients

Ingredients like these draw water into the surface layers and slow how fast it leaves. The evidence is for comfort, softness and hydration rather than for changing the structure of the skin.
