What the gurus are saying

Gurus praise this cream for effectively treating dry and damaged barrier skin, and note its popularity as a sandwich layer with retinoids to buffer dryness and irritation. The product is affordable and performs well, though the brand has reformulated it multiple times since 2019, with at least one recent overhaul noticeably changing the formula. Community consensus on current performance is limited.

"Let's talk about the Ilune ceramide ado concentrate cream. Another goodie throwback from the 2019 era. I started using this in 2019 and I want to say it's been reformulated once, twice, three times now since then. This is one of the things that really irks me about the modern era of K beauty is so many reformulations of products that are working perfectly well. Sometimes these reformulations, you don't really detect any type of difference in texture performance or ingredients really. Some things get shuffled around, but it really just doesn't affect the product overall. I started using it in 2019. I want to say in 2021 there was a reformulation. I could really not detect any type of difference whatsoever. Then they reformulated it again. I want to say 2023 was it? And it significantly changed."

"The Ilune ceramide ado concentrate cream has ginseng, ceramides, vitamin E, soybean extract. This one seems to work well for skin with damaged barriers or those with dry skin. A lot of people like to sandwich it in between their retinoid product to prevent their skin from getting too dry. If you use a lot of retinoids or actives, your skin can get super dry and flaky from it, so some people like to use the sandwich method: you would apply a thick moisturizer, apply the retinol or retinoid, and then apply a thick cream something like this and sandwich it in between two thick products to prevent the dryness and redness. It's really affordable."
