What they liked

  • Brightens without looking ashy
  • Light, subtle lavender tone

What they flagged

  • Applicators are awkward to use

What the gurus are saying

This powder's standout trait is how strikingly purple it is, and gurus found it genuinely brightens the complexion across different skin tones. The lavender undertone stays subtle rather than overwhelming. One thing to keep in mind though: the applicators that come with it didn't win everyone over, so you may want to apply it with a brush you already prefer instead.

"I bought Huda Beauty's Ube Birthday Cake Easy Bake powder because I saw it everywhere on social. I don't actually use it ever, only because I don't know how to bake, not because it's a bad product, but the smell is heavenly."

"It's meant for deeper olive skin tones, it's not meant for pale olive people, but I still liked it. I still thought it was fun. It blended into the blush. [...] I used a little bit of this, like a little bit more in my contour, so I combined the two and I really love the way the colors look. They're really, really pretty."

"It's just a deeper pink. It's called Ube powder, ube is a deep purple, it's really not that shade. It's more like a candy floss pink powder, which is still cute, but it's not purple. It was kind of shown as purple so I was a little bit disappointed by the original teasing because it looks like some trickery is going on with lighting and saturating the final video to make it look strangely purple. Because no one would question like a deeper pink powder."

"It actually looks kind of cute, very trendy. I don't think it's necessarily a need, but I think it's actually prettier than I was anticipating. I do feel like I would only use this when I'm going for a more blush heavy look just because I want everything to kind of blend up under the eye area. It gives a little hint of flush on the eyelids as well. I had high hopes because I live for Huda Beauty's powder. You guys know I love this powder so much. It actually looks really cute."
