What the gurus are saying

Gurus consistently praise the texture, finish, and skin-conditioning benefits, noting it feels light, dries quickly with a subtle dewy finish, applies cleanly under makeup, and doesn't pill or white cast. The major friction point is the artificial fragrance, which one reviewer found unbearably strong (causing headaches and redness) while another noted it's medium-strength but present for the first hour. Denatured alcohol in the formula may require extra moisturization afterward for some skin types. The split hinges on fragrance tolerance.

"You're not going to walk around feeling like your sunscreen is really wet for a long period of time because we have a good amount of rice in the sunscreen we get that moisturization. It's not oily, it's not greasy like some creamy textured sunscreens can really feel greasy on the skin. This has this nice light moisturization element to it that doesn't overwhelm the skin, and in fact it leaves your skin so stinking soft. I cannot stop touching my face when I wear this because it really just conditions the skin. That's really one of the beautiful benefits of rice in skincare, it really does soften the skin, and so we're getting that element here in the sunscreen. The finish on this is a bit dewy but I think it's really pretty. It's not overly wet, it's not really greasy looking, but it does definitely give you that kiss of dew. This dries really quickly on the skin, it doesn't feel really wet. Absolutely no white cast here, those chemical filters are doing their job. Really easy to reapply on the skin because it's so light it doesn't build up really thick and heavy on your second application, absolutely no pilling. Works beautifully underneath makeup because it's got that little kiss of dew that makes your skin just look really good."

There is artificial fragrance in the formula, and the level of scent is squarely medium. It will linger a little bit on your skin but it's not so heavy and perfumey. It's a very distinct clean floral smell with hints of jasmine in it. It will linger for like the first hour that you're wearing this but will start to fade over time. It's not super duper heavy. One of the beautiful benefits of rice in skincare is it really does soften the skin, and we're getting that element here in the sunscreen."

"The artificial fragrance can be a common irritant, so for some people I think this may be a pass just because of that. If you are sensitive to smell, the scent on this is more medium, it's definitely present and it will stick with you for a little bit. There's also denatured alcohol in here, which can be dehydrating for certain skin types. I found that I could wear this sunscreen like once or twice a week but then I have to be really moisturizing with my routine afterwards and give myself a few days. So while my skin tolerated this, if you do have sensitivities to denatured alcohol this may not be the best choice for you."

"This is so heavily fragranced. It smelt like there was a scented candle following me, put under my nose. Every time I wore this, it made my cheeks very red. It was far too strong. I physically cannot put that on my skin anymore. I got headaches from the smell and I've never, I probably have, but I don't remember the last fragrance product that actually physically made me feel sick. Really disappointed in this one because I really wanted to like it because how it looks on the skin and how it feels on the skin was really, really nice. I just got headaches from the smell."
