"I've been on a Hero Pimple Patch kick lately. These are just really easy to buy, you know, like at Target or IH Herb. I just like the accessibility. I know it's a little bit more expensive than K beauty brands. These are just hydrocolloid patches. They suck up the juice from your pimples. The ones that I have here is I have the original which are just like pretty standard thick hydrocolloid circles and then they have the invisible version which just have like tapered edges. They're thinner at the edge and so they actually blend into your skin. They're a little less noticeable and I do like those especially for daytime use."

"Another product that I actually use fairly frequently myself is acne patches like for example the one from Hero. These are hydrocolloid dressings that we actually use very commonly for different wound concerns in dermatology that have been formulated into these really slick circle patches of Band-Aids that you can stick readily on your skin and is meant to stick on your skin for long periods of time, usually throughout the day. The benefits of hydrocolloid acne patches are a few. Number one, it really keeps your hands off, especially when acne is angry, maybe even pustular. I think all of us have that tendency to like pick at it, want to squeeze at it, which is the last thing you want to do because it will aggravate your acne, it can cause more infection and cause the acne to spread and may even scar. And so the acne patch will help to protect the acne. But the hydrocolloid dressing itself has some properties where it can actually help to suck up some of that pus on top if you do have a pustule, and also help to add some anti-inflammatory benefits so that way if you do have an angry zit it may calm down more quickly. And nowadays a lot of these acne patches are pretty slick, they're often like nude in color and so when you put it on it almost offers some concealing benefits."
