What the gurus are saying

Hero Cosmetics pioneered acne patches in North America, bringing hydrocolloid patches from Korea and Japan to help normalize conversations about skin. Hydrocolloid is a wound dressing that's been used in medical settings for healing. Experts don't rank these as the strongest acne treatment, but they see them as a solid option that gives people choices, particularly those who need a gentler approach.

"Hero Cosmetics, founded by Ju.Ru back in 2017, they're really the OG of Acne Patches and they are the ones that popularized them in North America. [...] Acne Patches have been around a long time in Korea and Japan, but it was really Hero Cosmetics that made them known to everybody else in the world. Ju.Ru founded Hero Cosmetics because she struggled with acne and having sensitive skin and just didn't really deal well with traditional acne treatments, causing more sensitivity. When she went back to Korea, she discovered hydrocolloid patches as a way of helping to treat acne, and that's why she brought them here to the US market. I love the fact that by doing so she also normalizes the stigma of acne. Hydrocolloid patches is actually a type of wound dressing that dermatologists have been using for a long time to heal various types of wounds. [...] Even though it's not the best acne treatment, it gives people options and certainly can be a great option."
