What the gurus are saying

This balm earns consistent praise for removing stubborn, water-resistant makeup and layers of sunscreen without aggressive scrubbing, then rinsing away cleanly without leaving skin tight or stripped. Gurus highlight that it melts into an oil and emulsifies easily, leaving skin feeling nourished rather than squeaky after cleansing. At under ten dollars for a generous pot, it reads as a solid double-cleanse workhorse, though those with very sensitive skin may want to patch-test first since balms can occasionally trigger irritation.

"The Heimish All Clean Balm is a really nice cleansing balm that removes everything, including all the water resistant makeup, so I'm not aggressively scrubbing at my lashes either. It contains shea butter and coconut extract along with white flour complex. And I feel like this one rinses out pretty nicely."

"Next up is a cleansing balm, another first cleanse item that I tend to use a lot of, and this one is by Heimish, the All Clean Balm. I talked about this in one of my Faves and Fails videos. I didn't love it. It's not very elegant. It is incredibly affordable, it's super cheap, I think it's about six or seven dollars, and while it is effective at removing the SPF and the makeup and the grime, I just didn't really like the feel of it. I think there are so many other products that even fit within the price category that are better. So for me it's not a repurchase. It was nice to give it a try, it had been on my list, but it's just not going to be one I go for again."

"I do like their All Clean cleansing balm."

"I went through the Heimish All Clean Balm, the travel size. I actually like the mandarin scent a bit more than this one. Both the cleansing balm and the cleansing oil work great to remove sunscreen, foundation, and so on, though the balm feels like a bit more of a ritual than the oil, which is faster."

"The Heimish All Clean Balm is incredibly up my alley, I feel like Heimish got everything right about this. The packaging is super cute and practical, it comes with a scoop in the lid. It does have a scent to it which I know won't be for everyone, but in a wash off product our skin seems to get along with it. As somebody who wears both sunscreen and makeup, I can tell you some cleansing balms are a lot more effective at removing makeup than others, and Heimish nailed it, they made an amazing cleansing balm that removes makeup and emulsifies beautifully. I absolutely love this cleansing balm."
What About Korean...Makeup!?
"This is the All Clean Balm cleansing balm. This design is so brilliant, you just lift the lid, use the provided scoop, and remove the inner lid to use the balm. It's a nice thick balm with a beautiful scent, a light essential oil smell, and a sherbet like texture that melts on contact with your skin. My skin is sensitive but it gets along with scents in my cleansing balm. You apply it to dry skin, massage off any areas with heavier makeup, then go in with water to emulsify, and it rinses off completely with no residue left behind. Residue is a deal breaker for me, and that is one of the reasons why I love this balm so much. It can be used to remove both makeup and sunscreen."

"This is a standard cleansing balm in a nice way. It has that kind of plasticky feel to it that rubs down into an oil, you rub that gently on your skin and emulsify it and wash away. It's a really good cleansing balm. I like this [...] size. These ones are nice because you don't have to spend ages trying to break it down. It washes away super easy once emulsifying. Heimish is known for their cleansing balm. Like, you can't not win with this one."

"This is an iconic K-beauty product and probably one of the first cleansing balms I've ever used, the All Clean Balm from Heimish. This is only going to be $9.99, which is a bargain because it's huge. What I love about this is it is that classic cleansing balm without just feeling like a pot of melted plastic, which a lot of cleansing balms can feel like. This is amazing at removing layers of sunscreen, makeup. It's very, very good at removing that excess oil, sebum, dirt. So, yes, perfect for a double cleanse if your face just needs that excess cleanse. This has so many nice oils in. It does have Shea Butter and Coconut Extract, I believe, which leaves your skin feeling, not just cleansed, but nicely nourished after. It's almost like when you use an oil cleanser and you kind of emulsify it, then rinse it away and you feel like a little bit like moisturized. Your skin doesn't feel stripped. This is how this one feels. Whereas a lot of other cleansing balms can just feel a bit plasticky and leave your skin feeling a little bit tight after. But this is a classic for a reason, and it's popular for a reason."

"This formula is fantastic, it melts sunscreen and makeup off my face, it literally feels like a memory foam cushion and I love this little container. It's one of the funnest skincare design things that I've come across in quite a while and it feels so good on my skin. This is one of the most effective K Beauty cleansing balms that I've ever tried. It does have a little bit of fragrance, so if you're super sensitive be aware, but I don't hate fragrance and this rinses off so it doesn't irritate my skin. It smells like you're running through a field of daffodils and daisies and butterflies, it is so nice and springy. Of course it's vegan and cruelty free, and the best part is the price—you can literally get this for under ten dollars."

"The Heimish All Clean Balm is beautiful and looks like a Pinterest stay-at-home girlfriend aesthetic. It smells divine and comes with a little spatula. It does have fragrance, so be aware of that if you're super sensitive, but because you wash it off, it's not that bad. This is one of the softest, most soothing, wonderful makeup, sunscreen, dirt, and gunk removers that literally feels like a milky cloud on your skin and in your hands. I have come back to this time and time again."

"The Hamish All Clean Balm was one of the first K beauty products that I ever tried and I have been obsessed with it since. I've gone through so many bottles of these. It has a little open flap and then a little spoon doohickey and this is like a melting cushion cloud on your face. This removes makeup so well it is flawless. If you wear makeup or sunscreen you want something inexpensive but effective, this is your answer. This is hands down one of the best K Beauty cleansers I've ever personally used and it is definitely one of the best of 22."

"This is something I've been using for over a year now. This is the All Clean Balm from Heimish. I keep re-buying it. It's like a little cloud for your skin and it comes out this white chunky chunky and then it melts down into this cleansing milk. I've been thinking of switching to like a cleansing oil just to see how that goes, especially since I liked this a little bit more in the winter, but this has been a tried and true in my routine. Yeah, I just keep coming back to it and I love it."

"This is the Heimish All Clean Balm, one of my favorite cleansing balms. It shifts makeup really easily, it rinses off cleanly, it comes in a convenient flip top tub, and it's affordable. I'd recommend this to anyone unless you're allergic to something in it."

"I've been using this for years and this one is very high up there. This is a really good cleansing balm that works really well to get rid of waterproof makeup including mascara and it rinses off really cleanly. It doesn't leave a layer of oil behind so you don't need to worry about it. This is just one of the more affordable cleansing balms that works really well. It's slightly scented, it has this flip top lid that makes it really easy to get into, and it has a little spot for storing your spatula."

What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

Ceramides

Ceramides are part of the skin's own barrier, and moisturisers built around them have evidence for holding water in and settling the tightness and flaking that come with a damaged barrier.

Source: DermNet

Vitamin E

Vitamin E is an antioxidant, and it is often in a formula to keep the other ingredients stable rather than as the active itself. It pairs well with vitamin C, though on its own the evidence for visible change is limited.
