What the gurus are saying

Sharp disagreement marks the gurus' takes on whether this two percent hyaluronic acid serum with multiple molecular weights and six-dollar price delivers standout results or just basic hydration. Those who loved it praise the K-beauty-style formulation and remarkable affordability; others found it unremarkable and suggest layering with another moisturizer or active ingredient. Glass packaging and fragrance-free formula earn appreciation, but this serum likely won't work as a standalone step.

"This one from Good Molecules is only six bucks and it's two percent. I've been using it for a while and a lot of my colleagues love it too. It's a popular reverse engineered product and a wonderful serum. It isn't a K-beauty brand, but if you're a K-beauty lover this is a great one because it has that mix of different molecular weights of hyaluronic acid."

"I legit wanted to love this, but that just didn't impress me much. I love that it's in glass packaging, I love that it's made in San Francisco, it's good, but it's not great. This one is very basic, fragrance free, and the price is right. This is like almost what you wanted this to be, but then it wasn't. It's basic, but I don't think it's revolutionary. This is one of those that if you got it, you could still use it and finish the bottle, whereas those other ones you can't even finish. But at the same time, this is nothing really special. If you really wanted to do something with this in your routine, you would have to layer this with another moisturizer or use this alongside another active. This one is fragrance-free and at least it follows through with that, it's not horrible, but it's not my favorite and it's not one that I'm going to purchase again."

What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

Humectants and emollients

Ingredients like these draw water into the surface layers and slow how fast it leaves. The evidence is for comfort, softness and hydration rather than for changing the structure of the skin.
