What they liked

  • Dries quickly, clothes go right over it
  • Soothing panthenol, hydrating for body skin
  • Affordable price for a body serum

What they flagged

Nothing. None of the experts who reviewed it raised a problem.

    What the gurus are saying

This serum dries quickly without stickiness or grease, making it easy to layer under clothes or other products right after showering. The panthenol soothes skin, and reviewers note it hydrates well and may help with texture concerns like keratosis pilaris on the arms. Applied to damp skin straight out of the shower locks in hydration more effectively, and the lightweight formula works well mixed with other treatments. At its price point, gurus find it a practical alternative to using expensive facial serums across the body.

"This is a thin texture body serum, very lightweight and it absorbs in really nicely. This has B5 in it, which is panthenol, so very soothing to the skin. I've been using this product at night to restore and rejuvenate, and it's thick hydrating. When you wake up in the morning I put just a little layer of this over the arms and legs. It dries very quickly and it does not leave the skin feeling tacky or greasy, and you can just put clothes right over it, leggings, whatever, just goes right over it and it keeps the skin so hydrated. It's at such an amazing price point."

"This is one I have tried more recently by Good Molecules, it is the B5 Hydrating Body Serum. [...] Add a serum under your moisturizer, it is a GameChanger. [...] Apply these serums [...] as soon as you get out of the shower within 30 seconds when your skin is still damp because it's going to suck up that hydration much better for a much deeper hydration."

"This is the B5 Hydrating Body Serum. If you're somebody that likes to take your serums for the face onto the body but you kind of think oh I don't know I just feel like I'm spending a lot on serums for the face and then using a lot of it to cover the body, don't worry just get this. This is so good, hydrating, even out the skin tone on the body. It's even slightly exfoliating, which means if you've got the old KP, the chicken skin on the backs of the arms, this could really work for you."

"Good Molecules B5 Hydrating Body Serum, I mixed a little bit of copper peptides in with it. The body lotion is light enough that you can mix it. If it's a too thick of a lotion you'll just end up with little flakes of powder in it, but it worked out pretty good. I'm just trying to firm up my arms, really the skin on my arms, so I think it's helping. This one's really affordable and nice."

    What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

    Salicylic acid

Salicylic acid dissolves in oil, so it can get into a pore rather than just working on the surface. That is why it has long-standing evidence for blackheads and milder acne.

    Humectants and emollients

Ingredients like these draw water into the surface layers and slow how fast it leaves. The evidence is for comfort, softness and hydration rather than for changing the structure of the skin.
