What the gurus are saying

This serum gives a subtle glow without looking glittery or greasy, and some find their makeup wears better over it. However, the vitamin C form it uses (magnesium ascorbyl phosphate) is considered a weak choice by dermatologists; it's far less effective than stronger forms, so if you're hoping for serious brightening or anti-aging work from a vitamin C, this probably won't deliver.

"It's so good. The glow is subtle enough to not be glittery or make you look oily but it gets the job done. I even noticed my makeup lasts longer whenever I wear it, which is not its purpose, so I definitely count it as a bonus. I use the shade star glow and it is so perfect for that glowy look. I've even gotten my entire family and friend group on it and they all love it. Whether you use it as a primer or a highlighter, it is so amazing. I use it as a primer as well and a highlighter."

"Glossier's Super Glow Vitamin C contains magnesium ascorbyl phosphate as well as magnesium. It's one that you can incorporate into your routine if you're dying to have a vitamin C for the hell of it, sure why not, but it's probably the most useless form of vitamin C."

What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

Vitamin C

Topical vitamin C is an antioxidant with reasonable evidence for dullness and uneven tone. It breaks down in light and air, so how a product is formulated and packaged matters as much as the percentage on the front.
