What the gurus are saying

This gentle PHA toner earns strong appreciation for combining mild exfoliation with all-natural fragrance formulated so it won't irritate skin. At $30, it lands on the pricier side for toners, but reviewers feel the thoughtful formula and beautiful shiny packaging make the investment worthwhile.

"We added an amount of all-natural fragrance to solution. This was about their chemical exfoliant. Basically saying it was low enough to not really have any irritating levels on skin."

"I will say I love this product. This is an excellent toner. It's a little expensive, it's closer to 30 bucks, but it doesn't actually break the bank. This is a PHA very mild gentle exfoliating toner in a beautiful shiny pink package."

What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

Niacinamide

Niacinamide has evidence behind it for redness, uneven tone and supporting the skin barrier, and it is usually well tolerated even by skin that reacts to most things.

Salicylic acid

Salicylic acid dissolves in oil, so it can get into a pore rather than just working on the surface. That is why it has long-standing evidence for blackheads and milder acne.

Alpha hydroxy acids

Alpha hydroxy acids loosen the bonds holding dead cells at the surface. The evidence supports smoother texture and more even tone over time, and they can leave skin more sensitive to sun.
