"It's a compound that's found in centella asiatica which they've isolated, concentrated, and condensed out into these little balls that kind of burst on the skin and give you that calming and soothing effect. I love this because it means you can use this not only as your hyperpigmentation serum but also as your calming and soothing one too. You've also got a stabilized version of vitamin C which is great because it's going to have a super long shelf life and you don't have to worry about it oxidizing. You've got two percent concentration of tranexamic acid which is one of my absolute favorite pigment correctors because it works in two ways: it increases the rate of excess pigment being expelled from the skin but it also calms and soothes and is anti-inflammatory which will dial back the rate of pigmentation production in the first place. So you're kind of getting a two-pronged attack when it comes to fading dark spots and discoloration. Tranexamic acid is one of my favorite ingredients and it's really difficult to find, especially in that gold standard two percent concentration, but you have it in here. All of this is held within centella asiatica which is a wonderful calming and soothing ingredient, hydrates, and used alongside that vitamin C in here it's also proven to dial up the rate of collagen production, which is some great anti-aging benefit."

"In here you've got calming and soothing ingredients minimizing inflammation redness and helping to smooth out the texture of the skin. You've also got those saccharides, those sugar molecules, which are really really important to deeply nourish and hydrate. If you're looking for plumping, having that saccharide action is really really important and you get it in here alongside that calming and soothing. This is quite honestly one of my favorite favorite serums and I use it every day in my skincare routine. It's so simple, doesn't break the bank, and the way that it's formulated means you can just slot it into your existing skincare routine and it works perfectly with all your other actives so you don't need to change anything. "This actually contains beta glucans and madecassol, great ingredients to calm and soothe. Now do I think this is the best calming serum on the market? No, but it's up there amongst some of the other great options. It works really well, it's really well formulated. While I'm not going to declare it to be the best calming serum, top in class, it's definitely a great well formulated product that I think is great for redness prone skin, very sensitive skin. Use this and you'll just see that everything reaches an equilibrium that little bit quicker and your skin is less irritated. When my skin's going through it and feels a little sensitive, a little of this just works every time."

"This is a wonderful beta-glucan and ceramide infused serum and it just does everything for your skin. I think it's just a great addition to any skincare routine. If your skin's going through it, here in the northern hemisphere it's winter, it's cooler, my skin tends to be more dryness prone, a little bit more irritated, this is like an instant fix for that. And it's one of the best calming and soothing serums on the market."

"I'm on my third bottle of it now and I really love this one. It's a simple formula so if your skin is very sensitive but you're also having irritation, sometimes more simple is the way to go, especially for easily irritated skin. In here we've got saccharide isomerate, we've got beta glucan, I love beta glucan, it is an amazing ingredient and it's great for soothing skin, it's a good humectant and also can help brighten skin up, amazing ingredient, and then last but not least we've got matrixyl 3000 which comes from Evonik that has skin healing, wound healing properties in it. The texture of this stuff is wonderful and it just soaks into skin super easily. A little bit of it goes a long way and it's really affordable. You can pretty much add this into any routine pretty easily. Beta glucan and matrixyl together are even better, they can help really protect your skin."

"Coming in at 12 bucks is the Geek & Gorgeous Stressless Serum, a super lightweight serum you can use for daytime or evening or both. It's great to use in conjunction with other products because it's just got a super light texture so it layers well. I think this is my second or third bottle of it, so just a really nice lightweight gel texture serum. In here we've got beta glucan, which is great as a humectant, soothing ingredient, antioxidant. Then we've got madecassoside, which is a derivative from centella, a compound from centella rather, that's great for wound healing and collagen production, great for your skin."

"Beta glucan is a star of this show with the Geek & Gorgeous Stressless Serum. Beta glucan's a great antioxidant with hydrating and soothing benefits. Even small amounts of beta glucan can help hydrate skin and even better than hyaluronic acid, and it also has soothing wound healing benefits to skin. Beta glucan in my opinion is superior to hyaluronic acid. I really prefer it in it because it's just got other good things that it does as opposed to hyaluronic acid, which is a great humectant, but beta glucan is that and it does other good stuff."
