What they liked

  • Rose scent and visible petals in bottle

What they flagged

  • Pricey for what hydrating toners cost elsewhere
  • Some users reported irritation and breakouts

What the gurus are saying

Real rose petals make this toner visually distinctive, though reviewers split on whether the forty nine dollar price justifies that appeal. Hydration and calming benefits are easily found in much cheaper alternatives like the ten dollar Simple Soothing Toner, and some users report skin irritation and breakouts, so patch-testing is wise.

"I was hyper obsessed with this back in 2021, 2022. Then I never repurchased it and I just got it this time from my US trip. These kind of hydrating toners, you can apply it around your eye, on this orbital area, your bone area. Most of these toners which are hydrating in nature, don't waste your money by putting them on a cotton pad directly, massage it onto your face. Take it down to your neck and you can take it on your chest area as well."

"I'd replace this forty nine dollar Fresh Rose Deep Hydration Toner with the ten dollar Simple Soothing Toner. Both are hydrating, calming, alcohol free toners. Fresh just has rose petals and smells like roses. The marketing and sensory feel is all you're paying for, so save your wallet."

"I like this toner. Now yes, there are cheaper hydrating toners that you can buy, there's so many especially if you're into Korean skincare, Japanese skincare, you can find so many hydrating toners and essences that are way cheaper than what you would get from Fresh. But if you're into the brand and into this type of presentation, the bottle is just so pretty and it looks like there's [...] actual rose petals [...] that they put inside it, which just makes it really pretty. [...] You can kind of do a hydration layering routine with the toner, serum, and moisturizer together, so after you cleanse your skin and it's a little bit damp, you start with the toner, then you put on the serum, and then you seal it all in with the moisturizer."

"While I've bought that Rose hydration toner and have used it and actually really really like it, is it the only hydrating toner that I love? No, there are a lot of hydrating toners out there and a lot of them are just as good and way less expensive than the Fresh one."

"It has a slight rose scent, so this is something that I sort of have passed on during the summer and I'm going to declutter this. It is a lovely hydrating toner but it's just not for me."
