What the gurus are saying

Gurus agree the serum contains potent ingredients and delivers visible brightening, but consensus centers on concern over fragrance in an active formulation. The core divide is whether brightening comes from vitamin C or the exfoliating acids also present; one expert argues the effect is primarily exfoliation-driven and warns daily use risks barrier damage and contact dermatitis from fragrance, while another acknowledges efficacy but notes it's unsuitable for sensitive skin. The fragrance complaint surfaces across both takes.

"You're getting the quick brightening which you would get with lactic acid or mandelic acid, it's not because of vitamin C effect. Plus this product has fragrance, so it's a bad idea to make an exfoliator with an irritant together. The skin will brighten because of exfoliation, but if you use this daily it may lead to skin barrier damage and the fragrance can lead to contact dermatitis. So for me, this is a no."

"The Foxtale Vitamin C Serum contains L-ascorbic acid, which is the most potent form of vitamin C. It also has vitamin E, which helps in stabilizing the formulation and also gives an added antioxidant benefit. It's a biphasic formulation, it spreads easily and does not feel sticky. What I like about this product is it's an effective potent formulation that helps in brightening the skin. What I didn't like about this product is it has fragrance, so I wish it was fragrance free, and also it will not suit sensitive skin type."
