What the gurus are saying

This retinol's encapsulated slow-release formula does make it beginner-friendly and genuinely gentle on skin. However, reviewers warn it's a stepping stone only, too basic to tackle fine lines or progress beyond first use. The pump takes several minutes to dispense, and the ingredients list uses confusing formatting that obscures actual concentrations.

"0.15% retinol. Very happy with that percentage. Very simple formula. There's actually no other actives in here. The negatives are the inky list is wrong. Whenever you see ands like this on an ingredients list, it's wrong. What they've done here is they basically given you a recipe. This is incorrect because now you don't actually know if they've gone over, like for example, how much fats was in the product over the legal amount. You won't know unless you actually add it up."

"It's a good percentage, 0.15% retinol. Very good Foxtail with the packaging, don't it? It's dusty but beautiful packaging, very instagrammable, but more importantly airless packaging, so well done. The only downside is this catch mechanism on the pump, it's the same issue I had in my vitamin C video. It takes like three minutes to dispense. It's going to give you arthritis, guys. I don't know about your skin, but your joints are going to be in pain."

"This is a great retinol which is beginner friendly. 0.15% retinol encapsulated, slow release means less irritation, means it is beginner friendly. So if you're looking at an affordable option as a beginner, yeah skin sensitive, but you don't want to use like a higher concentration, a great alternative is to use the Foxtail encapsulated 0.15% Retinol Serum."

"The ingredient story is very basic, honestly, just some basic retinol that I don't quite appreciate. If you have sensitive skin and you're getting this at a deal and you're a first time user, go ahead, give it a try. But otherwise, this is a product that you will use once and you will not repurchase. You have to move on to something which is a little bit stronger. This is not for the long run to get used to the ingredient retinol. This is not going to do anything for your fine lines, everything that you see around it as a promise is pretty false."
