What they flagged

  • Takes effort to rinse out completely
  • Shea butter may clog pores if you're acne prone

What the gurus are saying

This mask earns praise for its thoughtful ingredients and easy tube packaging, though it takes real effort to rinse away completely. The formula includes arnica and calendula for soothing alongside shea butter to protect the barrier, which means anyone prone to breakouts may want to patch-test first since shea butter can sometimes trigger sensitivity in acne-prone skin. Expect to massage any stubborn residue into the skin or wipe it away rather than simply rinsing.

~Mixed
"One minor complaint I do have about this product is that it did take a little while to rinse off, like I really had to get in there to get it out of my skin. My skin feels fine. I'm not noticing a huge difference. The good thing is that my skin doesn't look red, it looks very even toned, which is good. That's not always the case when I use a new product. But I'm not noticing my skin is particularly more moisturized or hydrated than it felt before."

"I like the packaging. [...] It comes in a tube and you just have to apply it on your face. [...] This is a light blue hue [...] and then you put it on your face and you wash it off. It has calendula, it has arnica, it has shea butter to help protect the skin barrier. They say to leave it on for fifteen minutes and then to massage any remaining product into the skin or to wipe it off with a tissue."

What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

Humectants and emollients

Ingredients like these draw water into the surface layers and slow how fast it leaves. The evidence is for comfort, softness and hydration rather than for changing the structure of the skin.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E is an antioxidant, and it is often in a formula to keep the other ingredients stable rather than as the active itself. It pairs well with vitamin C, though on its own the evidence for visible change is limited.
