What the gurus are saying

The texture splits reviewers: a gel-liquid hybrid that sits between an essence and a serum, thicker than a toner but fluid enough to layer smoothly. Those with dull skin find it noticeably brightens, and it layers well under heavier hydration. The main caveat is fragrance; some find it lightly scented even if labeled unscented, so anyone sensitive to fragrance may want to patch-test first. One reviewer loved the hydrating effects but passed due to scent preference.

"I bought a number of the Fenty products years ago and I absolutely loved them however I couldn't stay on this end they're very very heavy fragranced which was very intentional by Rihanna but then I found out they launched an unscented range and I thought that was what I bought I think it's unscented but I didn't really like the scent of this one either it didn't feel as overwhelmingly powerful as the other one did but I just didn't like it now I love the effects of this on my skin it's actually stunning but it wasn't for me so it's just not what I'm going to repurchase"

❄️ Morning Winter Skincare Routine for Mature, Hydrated, Glowing Skin
"It's the Fat Water by Fenty Skin. It's more of like a milky toner. I like this product, I don't love this product. I like the thickness, it's deeply hydrating. I don't know, I just don't love it, but I am going to finish it up."
❄️ PM Winter Skincare Routine for Mature, Hydrated & Rejuvenated Skin
"It is so fabulous, it just feels so lovely on the skin and then I follow up with the Fenty Skin Fat Water Pore-Refining Toner Serum and then I want to layer even more hydration"

"I can't remember if I've tried this, if this came out with the first initial set of Fenty products. I wasn't the biggest fan of the initial set of Fenty skin products. I can't remember if I like this fatty toner or not. I'm already feeling not as hydrated as I normally would."

"Fenty skin fat water this year this is the hydrating milky toner Essence I keep this downstairs which is why I haven't used quite as much as I do my other toners because this is what I use to prep my skin for makeup and it is so beautiful it really does prep the skin perfectly it hydrates the skin and it leaves it just feeling cleansed and ready for makeup so I keep this down here for my makeup prep. I use this first and then I go in with the moisturizer and then makeup."

How Did I Forget Last Month's Favorites?! HERE THEY ARE!! 😍
"I have one that I've been really loving, which is from Fenty Skin, it's their Fat Water hydrating milky toner essence. I've never really tried things from Fenty Skin, but when we were shopping in Texas with Nikki La Rose she said she always has this in her kit and so I bought it. I've been using it specifically to prep for makeup, however it works really well in my nighttime skincare routine as well. I've been keeping it on my filming desk so I can be a little bit better about being super intentional with skincare under makeup and I've been loving it."

"Don't sleep on fat waters if you have dull looking skin. This kind of all started with Riri and her fat water a few years ago and when she launched this it was not my favorite product. Fat waters as a category however have kind of taken off and I feel like so many people don't speak about these and what they can do for the skin. It's a unique texture that is a gel but also a liquid. I mean it's not a toner but it's not a serum, it's kind of an essence but it's a little bit more gelatinous and it does a bit more glow."

What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

Niacinamide

Niacinamide has evidence behind it for redness, uneven tone and supporting the skin barrier, and it is usually well tolerated even by skin that reacts to most things.
