What the gurus are saying

One expert praised the concentration as well-balanced and affordable, noting that azelaic acid reduces acne bacteria and can restore radiance and skin plumpness. However, a dermatologist raised a question about whether the stated 15% concentration is fully stable and active in the formula, and suggested that medical-grade azelaic acid products may offer more reliable potency and delivery. Those wanting a higher strength at a low price may find it worth trying; anyone concerned about getting the most potent formulation may want to check with their dermatologist first.

"With the Face Theory product they probably put a lot into it to be able to put 15% on the label but is it a true 15% that remains to be seen. If I'm looking at things like azelaic acid, I would always say are worth investing in in terms of medical grade product because you're getting the pure ingredient and you're getting exactly what you're paying for and actually you're getting a better delivery mechanism as well."

"Azelaic acid is great because it actually minimizes the amount of acne causing bacteria on the skin. It feels great and I can already feel the radiance, the luminosity back, making the face plump and juicy. I really really really love that product and it's got the right concentration of azelaic acid that means it'll kind of work for everyone. If you want to go for a higher strength azelaic acid and your skin can tolerate it, Face Theory do a 15 which I love and I think is just a good all-rounder, nice concentration for everyone, and it's like seven pounds, eight pounds, so cheap."
