"This is such a beautiful elegant matte sunscreen option. This is the European formula, and in the US they did launch an oil control version that [...] was not matte and not oil control, so if you want this specific version you have to get it from Europe. [...] I found it interesting because normally a lot of the oily and matte finished formulas are in a fluid or gel type that feels super powdery, but this is like a traditional sun cream. As you apply it, it actually feels like you're applying a moisturizer. It is very nourishing and moisturizing at first, then settles down to a very semi-matte to matte finish. You can definitely feel the oil control property throughout the day. If you have really extremely shiny oily skin, I think this will take care of you throughout the day. I like that it doesn't have that instantly drying feeling. There is alcohol in there, which is part of the reason why it sets down and is such a good oily skin formula. I love alcohol in a sunscreen because the humectants, occlusives, and film formers in a sunscreen basically counteract any negative impact of the alcohol."

"This is the European version, this was one of the sunscreens I bought when I was in Italy a while back and it was the one that I used the most while I was on holiday. I really like this because it isn't too glidey when I'm applying it. It is fragrance-free with very minimal smell. There is alcohol in it but to me it isn't really that obvious. The finish is satiny, it isn't as matte as I really expected for an oil control product but honestly I don't think any chemical sunscreens go really super matte but it does stay the same level of satiny for a really long time so I found that really impressive. In summer it is heavier than Asian sunscreens which is not really that surprising, it's a European sunscreen, but it is still really lightweight compared to most other European sunscreens. I found it really comfortable especially given that this is water resistant. I really enjoyed wearing this, it felt like it stayed in place really well despite all the oil and sweat and heat."

"The European version of this sunscreen is honestly incredible. I wish it was easier to get in the United States. It's much more of a gel cream in formulation, so a lot lighter weight. This also has more of a matte dry down. One of my patients, her mom lives in France and sent her a bunch of different products to try because she has oily skin and struggles with acne, and this was sort of the winner of the bunch. She brought it into clinic for me to try and it was incredible. Whenever I talk about products for oily skin on my Instagram or even on TikTok, this sunscreen comes up so much in the comments because people love it."

"The Eucerin SPF 50 oil control matte finish, the reason you're getting a matte finish is because the second ingredient here is denatured alcohol and I really don't like this ingredient. It's a bit of a trick really putting it in because you get that instant matte finish. You're getting that instant feeling, people are buying it because they are addicted to that instant quick matte feeling, which I fully understand, but I don't like what it does to the skin. You don't see what's happening to the skin because you don't see free radicals being generated. For this one I would again side step."
