  • Lightweight texture

What they flagged

  • Not water resistant
  • Peels if applied too quickly

What the gurus are saying

This lightweight, fluid sunscreen spreads easily without clumping while delivering real hydration that doesn't feel greasy, and it's super affordable. It's not water resistant though, so it works best for mostly indoor days rather than active outdoor settings. If you apply it too quickly or layer it over oilier products, it may peel, so taking your time with application helps.

"It's a hybrid sunscreen and it does have a little bit of a tendency to peel. If you apply it really quickly, you're not careful with taking your time to rub it in. It can peel, especially if you put it on over oilier products, but I really like it. It doesn't really leave a striking white cast. Again, it's hybrid, so there is zinc in there. It's not like an all mineral formula. It's pretty no-nonsense fragrance-free formula. It's another one that's great for days when you're mostly indoors. You're not really spending a lot of time outdoors. It's a great option for those cold winter days where you need something moisturizing, but you also want to have the UV protection on board for when you're outside during daylight hours."

Skincare Product Reviews Of The Month | February 2024
"This is a moisturizer with hyaluronic acid, which is great for improving the moisture content in skin's outermost layer, ultimately helping to support barrier function. With consistent use you get improved water retention in skin's outermost layer, and the better water content allows for the enzymes there to function better so that you have better cell turnover. Plus this is a sunscreen so it's protecting the skin from the damaging effects of ultraviolet radiation. It is nice and moisturizing. It is an organic chemical sunscreen so there's no white cast to this. I did not experience any burning or stinging. It is not water resistant, so it's a great option as an everyday facial moisturizer if you're going to be indoors, but if you're going to be participating in sport or working up a sweat outside I suggest choosing a water resistant formula."

My TOP 10 HYBRID SUNSCREEN FAVORITES // DERMATOLOGIST @DrDrayzday
"This one definitely is worth mentioning because it's one I have used since college or high school. I mentioned it in my Eucerin best of video. I don't ever get the clumping effect with this like I do with the CeraVe, and the spread is superior. It's more fluid and lightweight so it glides on over the skin well. It's super affordable, around $8 on iHerb or $7.79 for 4 oz, which is a really good price. People told me in the comments they got this because of my videos and love it, so this is a great one if you're especially on a budget and looking for a daily moisturizer with SPF."
Top 6 SKIN CARE INGREDIENTS to SIMPLIFY YOUR ROUTINE| Dr Dray
"This is a favorite of mine. I mentioned it in several videos. I use this. It is actually one of the first sunscreens I started using consistently back in the 90s. This is a great everyday facial sunscreen. It is a combination sunscreen with zinc, which is a mineral active, titanium dioxide, another mineral active, and some chemical filters. Once you put it on and give it a few minutes, it really does dry down a lot more transparent and with even less of a cast. This sunscreen is very moisturizing but it is not greasy or heavy."
My 90s SKIN CARE ROUTINE | THE GOOD & THE BAD | Dr Dray
"This was my sunscreen of choice and I wore it every day in the 90s. It's a combination sunscreen with zinc and some chemical filters, so it does leave a little bit of a cast, much less noticeable than pure zinc oxide. It's fragrance-free. It was good then and it's still good now, and I still use it and recommend it."

What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

Alpha hydroxy acids

Alpha hydroxy acids loosen the bonds holding dead cells at the surface. The evidence supports smoother texture and more even tone over time, and they can leave skin more sensitive to sun.

Sunscreen filters

Sun protection is the best evidenced way to slow visible ageing, and the filters are what does the work. Mineral and chemical filters both protect when a product is applied thickly enough and often enough, which is where most people fall short rather than on the choice of filter.
