What the gurus are saying

Gurus are split on efficacy. One dermatologist found it effective for dark spots and melasma suppression, calling it worth the investment despite high price. Others question whether the patented tyrosine inhibitor outperforms standard alternatives and flag concerns about drying effects and premature aging. A recurring complaint is the fragrance, which caused headaches in at least one reviewer. There's also debate about whether using it under sunscreen in the morning actually lets the active reach skin effectively.

"It's a really nice serum which helps in reducing dark spots. Theamid is really effective and I feel that this is expensive but if you are thinking of investing on something to improve your skin tone overall and improve skin quality then I feel this serum is worth the price. You just have to use a very small quantity, just one pump on the affected area. I prefer to use it in the morning time on the melasma patches. If you have more even dullness, then you can use a very small quantity all over your face in multiple small dots so that you can use this serum for a longer time. This is a good serum that you can use in order to reduce your dark spots. It helps in keeping melasma suppressed for longer. A good ingredient to include in your routine and a good product if you are somebody struggling with dark spots."

"DH alcohol plus their patented Tyro inhibitor and that's how they're sort of selling it by selling it as has a patented ingredient but actually it's not going to be any more effective than the other tyro inhibitors we have over the counter and they've only using one of them. I mean I'm happy for you to try it but actually it is probably going to lead to drying of the skin and premature aging so I personally wouldn't."

"The fragrance was bad to the point where it gave me a bad headache. I'm not going to recommend it. I was really disappointed, especially since when it comes to dark spots and melasma you really need to be aggressive with sun protection. When it comes to sunscreens with actives, there's a concern with whether the sunscreen film limits penetration of the active ingredient. If it doesn't, then it's great because you have one product that's your sun protection with the thiamidol for the morning routine, but if it does limit penetration, then that's a problem."
