What the gurus are saying

Gurus across the board view Epiduo as an effective, evidence-backed acne prescription. They emphasize it is safe for long-term use without seasonal breaks, approved for patients as young as nine, and the combination of adapalene and benzoyl peroxide works synergistically. The recurring theme is that it delivers real results when over-the-counter treatments fail, with adapalene offering added anti-inflammatory and collagen-protective benefits.

"Epiduo, if you're not familiar, is adapylene plus benzoyl peroxide. Yeah, you can use that indefinitely long term for the treatment of acne, which is what it's indicated for. There's no issue that has been established with long-term consistent use of either ingredient, adapylene or benzoyl peroxide. You don't need to take breaks in the summer or spring months. You don't need to take breaks for seasonal reasons from topicals. The topical retinoid, specifically adapylene in this case, it doesn't increase your chance of a sunburn. It's actually good for you to be using a topical retinoid in the sunnier months because it helps to protect collagen in your skin to a certain extent by limiting activation of matrix metalloproteinase enzymes that get upregulated with ultraviolet radiation that then destroy your collagen and facilitate wrinkles and premature skin aging. Adapylene also has this anti-inflammatory effect that can be beneficial as well."

"The stability from these rings also makes it really good for acne because it means you can layer it with benzoyl peroxide and you can also get it in a relatively simple combo formula which is called Epiduo."

"If home remedies and acne treatments aren't working, it's time to see the doctor and he prescribed me Epiduo and it actually works. Epiduo, oh my God, that is incredible."

"There is a medication called Epiduo. Epiduo is literally adapalene, which is a form of retinoid, plus benzoyl peroxide, and it works really great for acne. It's a prescription. A doctor or provider might say, hey, we're going to custom blend a retinoid in with benzoyl peroxide to help you get the most out of your skin care. If prescribed by a doctor, go for it."
