"UV Sport, I love that one for when I'm out mountain biking or playing pickleball outside. It doesn't get in my eyes, it doesn't sweat off, and it doesn't leave white streaks on my face."

"Their UV Sport is excellent. [...] These are really easy to tolerate around eyelid skin as well. A lot of people with chemical sunscreens sold in the US, they try and put them under their eyes to their eyelids, they get a lot of burning and stinging, that's not the case with these mineral sunscreens. But they don't settle in the little eyelid creases either. You don't get that white chalky build up and little lines under your eyes or around your eyes for a zinc oxide sunscreen."

"EltaMD UV Sport also has some really nice sunscreens that are really nice and have a matte finish."

"Another water resistant sunscreen that I really really like and is a little easier to get your hands on in the United States is Elta MD UV Sport, it's SPF 50. This is a hybrid sunscreen that uses zinc oxide as well as some chemical UV filters to give you excellent protection."

"This is a hybrid sunscreen, so it has zinc oxide as well as some chemical UV filters. One thing I really like about this sunscreen is that you're able to apply it to wet or dry skin, and there's not a lot of sunscreens out there that say it's okay to apply it when your skin is wet. But from just like a practicality standpoint of being at the beach or at the pool, I feel like that's a really nice feature."

    What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

    Sunscreen filters

Sun protection is the best evidenced way to slow visible ageing, and the filters are what does the work. Mineral and chemical filters both protect when a product is applied thickly enough and often enough, which is where most people fall short rather than on the choice of filter.

    Vitamin E

Vitamin E is an antioxidant, and it is often in a formula to keep the other ingredients stable rather than as the active itself. It pairs well with vitamin C, though on its own the evidence for visible change is limited.
