"My sunscreen today is the tinted EltaMD UV Restore and I like it, it looks really nice on the skin and wears pretty well. But one thing I've pointed out before about this product is that if it gets on the waterline of your eyes it burns and stings, though it's fine on the eyelid skin itself. I'm also starting to notice that when I wear this to work out and reapply it, once it mixes with my sweat on my forehead I get an itchy, tight feeling. I'm starting to think some of the antioxidants they put in sunscreens, possibly including the one in this product, could be a culprit for that kind of irritation for some people. So all that to say, I do like the sunscreen and I've been wearing it comfortably, but I am coming into some issues with it, the itchy sensation and the stinging if it gets on my waterline."

Vlog: ENJOYING THE SUN 🌞 LIBRARY RUN 📚 AND SKIN CARE @DrDrayzday
"This is the EltaMD UV Restore Tinted Sunscreen, it's zinc and titanium dioxide and it's pretty moisturizing. But it's one of the few sunscreens that I find if it gets anywhere close to my eyes it burns. Throughout the day that's not an issue, it's not one of those sunscreens that burns on your eyelids or migrates down into your eyelids and starts to burn, but if a tiny little bit gets on your lid line as you're rubbing it in, it really burns. I haven't had that with a mineral sunscreen."
MUST TRY TINTED SUNSCREENS 😍 Dermatologist @DrDrayzday
"This is the EltaMD UV Restore Tinted Sunscreen, an SPF 40 sunscreen. It's not water resistant but it's very moisturizing, and I consider it a great option for a daily facial moisturizer with sunscreen and a nice tint to it. It would be a good base for your makeup. It's not greasy nor is it shiny, and it's very easy to spread on the skin. It has squalane in it, which is a nice emollient for a healthy dewy glow without looking greasy or shiny. It's vegan, and it does not have niacinamide in it. It's forty one dollars for two ounces, so not cheap, but I really think it's a great option if you are looking for a tinted sunscreen as a daily facial moisturizer."

What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

Vitamin C

Topical vitamin C is an antioxidant with reasonable evidence for dullness and uneven tone. It breaks down in light and air, so how a product is formulated and packaged matters as much as the percentage on the front.

Sunscreen filters

Sun protection is the best evidenced way to slow visible ageing, and the filters are what does the work. Mineral and chemical filters both protect when a product is applied thickly enough and often enough, which is where most people fall short rather than on the choice of filter.

Humectants and emollients

Ingredients like these draw water into the surface layers and slow how fast it leaves. The evidence is for comfort, softness and hydration rather than for changing the structure of the skin.
