"I'm wearing a mineral sunscreen right now from EltaMD."

"I really liked it but I would not say it is their best sunscreen. It is an all mineral formula but it's not tinted and there is a cast and it is shiny and those are things that don't bother me. But if you're going to plunk down the change for an Elta MD sunscreen I think the aesthetics of this you're going to be sorely disappointed because there are all mineral formulations that you can buy in the drugstore that are less expensive and look the same. This is not bad and I obviously finished it up. It is water resistant 40 minutes and it has hyaluronic acid which can help in pulling water into the top dead layer of the skin. It also has occlusive ingredients in it to trap that water and hold it in place so it's not drying or irritating. If you have rosacea I do think this is a good sunscreen for you but for the price point I would say use the CeraVe one or at least try the CeraVe one out and see what you think because I think they kind of look the same and that one's a lot less expensive."

"One of my favorite mineral sunscreens for around the eyes is the EltaMD UV Physical SPF 41. This one is slightly tinted so you actually get a little bit of cover of dark circles if you're also going for that too. It's a face sunscreen but using it under the eyes can be really helpful."

"I really love that EltaMD UV Physical SPF 41. This sunscreen uses a combination of zinc oxide and titanium dioxide and it has a really nice neutral tint. I feel like sometimes they're too peachy or too warm and this one sits right in the middle. In terms of texture it's quite mousey, almost whipped, and so I find that it layers really well under makeup. When you apply it it has this nice pore blurring effect. Sometimes I'll have patients in my office who are acne prone and teenagers and they want to wear makeup but maybe their parents aren't so thrilled about the idea that they want to wear foundation. I think this kind of meets people in the middle. You get that SPF protection but you also get a little bit of tint and coverage and it's sort of the perfect balance. This is also one of my favorite sunscreens to use after a procedure, so whether that's microneedling or laser resurfacing I like this because it's great for sensitive skin. You get a little bit of coverage so if you're a little red after your procedure and it just feels really nice."

"I do want to give a special shout out to Ulta MD UV physical SPF 41 because this was probably the first sunscreen I ever used consistently. I really liked that it had a little bit of a tint and a little bit of a blurring effect, so I feel like it makes my skin look better, and I really like that it was gentle on my skin. Even now it's one of my top recommended sunscreens for people who have rosacea or people who have sensitive skin in general."

"I think it is excellent if you have sensitive skin. This is one of my top recommendations also for sunscreen to use after you've had a laser procedure, so it really is incredibly gentle and I've never had anyone report skin stinging or burning after they use this product. I really like that it has a little bit of tint, so because this is a mineral sunscreen it uses titanium dioxide and zinc oxide as the exclusive UV filters, that little bit of tint also helps mask some of that white cast that sometimes zinc-based or titanium dioxide-based sunscreens can have. That being said, the tint on this really is quite light, so if you do have a deeper skin tone I could imagine this still giving you a bit of a white cast. The other thing I really like about this sunscreen and why I think it is great if you have oily skin is it has a little bit of a pore blurring effect. This sunscreen is also really good if you are acne prone."

"The ELA MD UV Physical SPF 41 is excellent for oily skin. This is a lightly tinted mineral or physical sunscreen. The UV filters in here are zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, and in general these mineral filters tend to be a little bit better for oily skin. Zinc has this drying effect on the skin which if you have oily skin can be really helpful. One unique aspect is the tint. I find a lot of tinted sunscreens are really warm or orange toned, but this one is much more cool with kind of like pinky undertones. That's great for people who have very fair skin who feel like they can't find a tinted sunscreen that is closer to their skin color. Also this has some blurring effects on the pores, and people who tend to be oily also tend to have more prominent pores, so anything that we can use in our skincare to diminish the pore appearance can be nice. This also happens to be a great sunscreen if you have really sensitive skin. It is so gentle, and it's also one of my recommendations for post-procedure application."
