What the gurus are saying

This gel emulsifies into a soft cream rather than foaming, avoiding the tightness typical of gel cleansers. It removes makeup residue gently and leaves skin calm, making it particularly well-suited for those with dry, dehydrated, or sensitive skin. Works cleanly as an evening second cleanse. Positioned as luxury skincare for adult breakout-prone skin.

"This is called the Flawless Cleanser. Now it's a gel, which if you know me isn't my favorite consistency. Like generally I associate gels with foaming and tightness and that sort of overcleansed feeling. So, I did go into this a bit skeptical, but I have made a serious exception for this product. Now, it doesn't foam, which is good. And despite it being a gel, it is very gentle and it is very soothing on the skin. I do emulsify it and it turns into this sort of a jelly, sort of a soft cream. There's no squeaky finish. There's no tightness. It does exactly what I want a second cleanse to do in the evening. It removes any residue left from the balm and leaves my skin feeling calm and balanced. It is a really lovely formula, especially if you're dealing with dry and dehydrated skin. And from my understanding, this is also great for sensitive skin, too."

"The cleanser I was using at the time is this one from Dr. Sam, this is her Flawless Cleanser. It's amazing, but this is for adults who still break out and who love luxury when it comes to skincare."

What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

Humectants and emollients

Ingredients like these draw water into the surface layers and slow how fast it leaves. The evidence is for comfort, softness and hydration rather than for changing the structure of the skin.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E is an antioxidant, and it is often in a formula to keep the other ingredients stable rather than as the active itself. It pairs well with vitamin C, though on its own the evidence for visible change is limited.
