What the gurus are saying

Tiger grass earns praise for reducing redness and calming sensitive skin, with a thick texture that mattifies nicely and leaves skin hydrated and plumper-looking on waking. The formula layers niacinamide and panthenol alongside it for anti-inflammatory support. Though reviewers confirm it works, those highly sensitive to plant extracts may want to patch-test first given the mask's botanical ingredient load.

"I'm honestly not surprised at all the Dr. Jart+ Cicapair Tiger Grass Sleep Intensive Mask made the list. Even though there are ingredients in the Cicapair line that I'm not necessarily a fan of, the results speak for themselves, they're really nice for reducing redness and sensitivity. I've used their moisturizer, their serum, and their tinted serum, but I haven't used this mask, even though I've purchased it twice. I really was impressed by the ingredient list and I'm really excited to try this one. I love Cicapair, Dr. Jart definitely knew what they were doing when they made that line."

"It's the same type of situation as the other one. I'd be down for a quickie with this mask because even though yes it has all the essential oils, their tiger grass concentrate really does a good job of reducing redness and sensitivity."

"We have a 39 dollar product here which is not bad, especially comparing to everything else that was in this routine. This is the Tiger Grass Sleep Pair Intensive Mask. Tiger grass, otherwise known as Centella Asiatica or gotu kola, is this plant that is very anti-inflammatory, very soothing to the skin, it is amazing for sensitive skin types, so this would be perfect for him. We have propandial, glycerin, et cetera. This does have niacinamide which we love. We do have some different oils in here, we also have panthenol. Niacinamide is our vitamin B3, panthenol is our vitamin B5, love to see it. We've got eggplant, we've got turmeric, we've got ivy, we have a couple of different acids again all fine things. But this isn't going to be getting my money for the morals and the ethics. Now is it fine? Yeah, it actually doesn't look bad as long as you're not sensitive to a lot of these plant things."

"It's thick but as you put it onto your skin that glow that you first get starts to kind of mattify a little bit and it just starts to feel really silky on your skin and you wake up with hydrated plumper skin that's really calm. It really helps to soothe that redness in your skin too but it doesn't feel goopy. You just feel hydrated, you feel like your skin is like tighter or something. I don't know how to explain it, it's a really nice sleep mask."

What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

Niacinamide

Niacinamide has evidence behind it for redness, uneven tone and supporting the skin barrier, and it is usually well tolerated even by skin that reacts to most things.

Humectants and emollients

Ingredients like these draw water into the surface layers and slow how fast it leaves. The evidence is for comfort, softness and hydration rather than for changing the structure of the skin.
