What the gurus are saying

Gurus consistently praise this as an effective, gentle option for sloughing away dry patches and crusty bits on lips. Results take a few weeks of regular use rather than overnight, but reviewers report it handles stubborn flaking well and works especially reliably for very dry climates. The preference for chemical over physical exfoliation for lips comes through strongly across takes.

"At night, I use the Dr. Idris Lip Peel, which is mandelic acid as well as glucanolactone and glycerin to help to smoothen my lips."

"Dr. Idris uses a very gentle mandelic acid AHA exfoliation product to gently exfoliate the lips. It's not going to make your lips exfoliate overnight. You kind of have to repeatedly use this for a few weeks, but it's excellent in getting those crusty bits off your lips. The efficacy of the mandelic acid for my very dry Colorado lips is in this product. If I get those crusty, flat skin-like crusty bits, this takes care of it in about a week just to help exfoliate that. Both of these are super gentle."

Anti-Aging Skincare Routine Over 50: Do DNA Repair Enzymes Really Work on Our Mature Skin?
"I tried several new lip products first a new exfoliating product by Dr. Idris, this is her lip peel. It has a very gentle exfoliator to help remove those kind of flat crusty bits that you get on your lips, very unpleasant, and I used it all winter long and loved it for gentle exfoliation."
VIRAL LIP STAINS! (Worth The Hype?)
"I prep my lips with a gentle exfoliating product by Dr. Idris, this is her lip peel. Much more gentle, it's a chemical exfoliant versus the lip scrub stick. I just don't like a scrub for my lips. I prefer a chemical exfoliant for my lip area. It is really important to exfoliate your lips, they get dry, they get chopped and they flake, just a little bit of exfoliation of the lip area especially before you apply a stain will help the product last longer."
