What the gurus are saying

Gurus are divided on this balm's suitability. Some find it a nice, hydrating companion to the lip peel that lasts well, though not quite as substantive as competing products. Others flag irritating ingredients like peppermint oil and fragrant compounds that can numb lips and feel counterintuitive in a dermatologist-branded product, especially for use over an active treatment that increases absorption.

"I don't like the balm that they sometimes bundle with this. I don't think it's a very good lip balm, quite honestly. There's some ingredients in them that actually make my lips feel irritated and kind of numb. There's like peppermint oil in it and some fragrant compounds. I was actually surprised that a dermatologist branded line would use ingredients like that in a lip product, especially considering that we're putting it over an AHA that kind of opens up the lips for more absorption. They make my lips feel really weird and numb."

"It's the lip balm that goes with the lip peel and it's lovely. I'm giving it a four out of five. It's a nice hydrating lip balm. It lasts. It doesn't have the scent that this one has, but it also isn't quite as thick and long lasting as the Necessar."
