"But it's great for those that have like allergic reactions to chemical filters that have super sensitive skin. It is hydrating. It's even great for those that have like acne prone skin. But it's lightweight, it's not sticky, it doesn't cake. And it also, my understanding is that it's like water resistant or sweat resistant in a sense. It's really ideal to wear during the summer time if you're going to be spending more time outdoors. It contains SPF 50 PA4 pluses."

"It is enough that I do have to wear makeup over it or I have to layer another sunscreen on top of it, but if you're paler than me or you don't mind a white cast or you don't mind mixing your sunscreens or layering your sunscreens then it's a really great option because it's very lightweight, it doesn't feel greasy at all, it doesn't leave you super shiny, it doesn't make your makeup settle into your pores or your wrinkles."

What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

Sunscreen filters

Sun protection is the best evidenced way to slow visible ageing, and the filters are what does the work. Mineral and chemical filters both protect when a product is applied thickly enough and often enough, which is where most people fall short rather than on the choice of filter.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E is an antioxidant, and it is often in a formula to keep the other ingredients stable rather than as the active itself. It pairs well with vitamin C, though on its own the evidence for visible change is limited.
