What the gurus are saying

The glow divides reviewers: some see the subtle shimmer and love the 'lips but better' effect, while others find the glow barely visible and wish they'd gone with a gloss instead. The other split is durability. Some praise the comfortable wear and the ease of reapplying on the go, but others find it dries lips out fast and needs reapplication every 30 minutes.

"Dior Addict Lip Glow Balm in shade 600, which I don't know if they make anymore but it's almost done. I think it's at the very end of it, it's probably five years old or more, but I got my money's worth because I literally wore this down to the very bottom. So at the end of it if there's a little bit left in there I can take a little lip brush and apply it from that."

"I legitimately can't believe I convinced myself into buying this product. So many makeup artists would swear by this product, they said it was like the only lip product that would really nourish their lips, leave it glossy. They would always be like yes it's really expensive but it's totally worth it. And I was swindled, I was tricked into buying this ridiculously expensive lip product. When I tell you that this product did absolutely nothing for my lips, I can't believe they put glow in the title because the glow was non-existent. There was no glow with this balm. I don't even know if it lasted 10 minutes. This is one of those products that I kept putting on over and over and over again within the span of like a few minutes because I was like I don't see any difference and my lips don't feel any better. What is going on? They're charging way too much money for a product that is entirely ineffective. I am still bitter that I was swindled into buying it."

TikTok Viral Products *NOT* Worth the Hype
"The most impressive thing about the virality of this product is not only that I've seen it a lot on TikTok but I've seen so many people out and about have it, which is an impressive feat because this product is definitely not cheap. I mean it's Dior, what do we expect? But let me tell you, not even kidding, when I say less than 30 minutes after I apply it I was already reapplying it because the glow was gone. My lips felt dry and they didn't feel moisturized. But I think the shocking thing for me about this product is that it is so expensive with not really any benefit. I saw nothing. And after a few days of reapplying it every 30 minutes I was like, you know what, I'm done. This is not working for me. I wouldn't have even been mad if it didn't moisturize my lips as long as it kept my lips looking glowy, and it didn't even do that."

"The Dior Addict Lip Glow Balm is totally like that your lips but better type of lip balm where they look a little plumper and a little more hydrated. It feels so comfortable on the lips and I don't have to worry about it going outside the lines. I can reapply it on the go without looking in a mirror, and if I'm in clinic all day I don't have to worry that the color is moving around. There's something special about having a little Dior balm in your pocket or purse, and when you bring it out you feel a little bit more glamorous."

"The Dior lip glow, that lip combo is so pretty."
Life Update ❤️ While Trying NEW Makeup
"I'm going to use the glow balm in the lilac pink color. Sometimes you don't get too much of a color payoff up front with these and then they kind of mesh with your pH and it shifts a little. It's looking a little bit brighter than what it applies. Maybe I would have been better off with the gloss versus this balm just to get a little more pigment of the lilac pink, but it is really pretty, very springtime, very fresh."

What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

Vitamin C

Topical vitamin C is an antioxidant with reasonable evidence for dullness and uneven tone. It breaks down in light and air, so how a product is formulated and packaged matters as much as the percentage on the front.

Sunscreen filters

Sun protection is the best evidenced way to slow visible ageing, and the filters are what does the work. Mineral and chemical filters both protect when a product is applied thickly enough and often enough, which is where most people fall short rather than on the choice of filter.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E is an antioxidant, and it is often in a formula to keep the other ingredients stable rather than as the active itself. It pairs well with vitamin C, though on its own the evidence for visible change is limited.
