What the gurus are saying

Gurus consistently praise this as an underrated, affordable sunscreen alternative to pricier tinted options. Key strengths include the hybrid formula (less irritating and less ashy than all-mineral), lightweight hydrating texture, and iron oxide tint that addresses visible light protection for hyperpigmentation. Niacinamide and vitamin C are noted bonuses. The main catch: one reviewer flags it is not water resistant; another confirms 80-minute water resistance. Generally well-tolerated around eyes and on sensitive skin.

"The Dermatology Universal Tinted Moisturizer SPF 46, I love that one. It's considered to be a moisturizer. I love the finish of that one. My wife and I use that one the most. It has a light tint so it doesn't get on all your clothes. I like the lightweight texture to it."

How to Upgrade your Morning Skincare Routine!
"I like Dermatology Universal Tinted Moisturizer SPF 46 because it has iron oxide in it, which is a nice way to filter out visible light. If you have hyperpigmentation and skin of color, you can still see worsening of hyperpigmentation with a non-tinted sunscreen even if you're diligent about wearing and reapplying it. This product is a dupe to Ala MD's UV Clear Tinted SPF 46, which is a higher price point, but this one is in the 20 to 30 dollar range. You can use it as a moisturizer with SPF and tint every day. Just note that it's not water resistant, so it's great to apply when you're going to go for a walk or go to the office."

"This is one of my favorite most repurchased sunscreens. It is a hybrid sunscreen, which are kind of the best of both worlds in terms of inorganic and organic sunscreen active ingredients. They're often less irritating to people who are sensitive to organic sunscreens, but they're also less casty in comparison to an all inorganic sunscreen. They do leave a little bit of a cast depending on your skin type, but overall are much less casty than an all zinc or zinc titanium dioxide sunscreen. They tend to be easy to tolerate around the eyes, as is the case with this. The tint comes from iron oxides. Visible light from the sun plays a huge role in hyperpigmentation, and sunscreen active ingredients don't protect against that visible light, but tinted sunscreens through the iron oxides may offer protection against that piece. So if you have skin that is prone to discoloration or dark marks, this could be beneficial."

"I really like this it has niacinamide in it which is good for redness and hyperpigmentation in my neck and it's pretty inexpensive too. I really think this one's a bit underrated. It's not oily and I can tolerate it around my eyes too. It's water resistant 80 minutes and it's very hydrating. Ascorbyl glucoside is just a stable form of vitamin C that may help defend against oxidative stress."
