What they liked

  • Contoured fit closer to face than competitors
  • Very bright output with accurate wavelengths
  • Durable silicone construction, travel-friendly

What they flagged

  • Ear straps ineffective, relies on back strap
  • May worsen melasma with heat and light exposure

What the gurus are saying

The mask's 120 bulbs per color and precise wavelengths (635nm red, 830nm near-infrared, 415nm blue) deliver consistent, even coverage that gurus praise for improving skin texture, tone, and collagen production with regular use. Its lightweight, silicone design fits closer to the face than many competitors and feels comfortable enough to use consistently, which matters because results take weeks and require commitment. One important note: those with melasma may find heat-based light therapy can temporarily darken patches, though applying an opaque cover over affected areas beforehand can help.

"I recently learned that CurrentBody is doing clinical trials at the University of Manchester where they're actually doing skin biopsies on the treated skin to show exactly what is happening at the molecular level with the collagen and the rejuvenated structure within the skin. I just find that incredibly admirable and if you're going to spend hundreds of dollars on a mask, wouldn't you like to see that data, especially when other masks are not offering that same quality of evidence? The two red light masks you will see me recommend the most, whether it's on Instagram or here, is the CurrentBody mask and the Omnilux mask because both of those companies have done independent trials."

"I also like the CurrentBody LED Light Therapy Mask Series 1. I like the way this one fits the face a bit more, but both get the job done. I love my red light devices. Of course, they do not take the place of in-office treatments, but even though I have every device at my fingertips, I don't always have time to do them. And so, having an at-home maintenance treatment that I can do that's easy, that I also find so relaxing, it's such a win for me."
Minoxidil Hacks for Faster, Long Lasting Results | Dermatologist Explains | Dr. Sam Ellis
"There is good evidence for red light devices with and without minoxidil. Not every red light device is created equal. The ones I typically recommend to my patients are either iRestore or Current Body. You just want to make sure that it's FDA cleared. And I usually tell my patients to look for something like a money back guarantee because not everyone is going to respond to these. So you want to make sure that it's actually an appropriate investment for you and you're not going to lose money on something like that."

"I do recommend light therapy masks if you can be consistent with them. The two I typically recommend are by Omnilux and by Current Body. Those masks both have the right specs to get you the right results. They have the right power to get you the right results. And they're both really high quality masks. I have used both and loved both."

Currentbody LED Mask Series 2 Review: Do You Really Need the Upgrade? | Doctor Anne
"Series 1, with a similar package, is available for 360 euros, making it the more budget friendly option if you are not set on the latest updates. Dr. Anne has been using hers for three years and it is still going strong. Her only minor complaints with it were the lack of chin and jaw coverage and having no strap over the top of the head to keep it in place, both of which Series 2 later addressed. The included eye goggles were also very uncomfortable."

LED, radio frequency and microcurrent: My 2 year update and ranking | Doctor Anne
"My first skincare device was the CurrentBody Skin LED Light Therapy mask, and it is the one I still reach for around five nights a week. It has been going strong since March 2022, so good value for money. It is so relaxing to just pop on some red light and lay down for ten minutes, I would probably keep using it even if I didn't feel it had a positive effect on my skin's radiance."
LED and microcurrent - my 1 year BEFORE and AFTER Update | Doctors Review
"I started my journey with the CurrentBody Skin LED Light Therapy mask (329 euros) and it still is the one I use. It isn't perfect, I had issues with the fit, but that is a minor complaint and nothing that prompted me to try another one. I got mine in March 2022 and 16 months later there haven't been any issues, even though I have heard from some people they had issues with the longevity of this one. I feel my skin looks overall brighter than it did before, without a change in my hyperpigmentation, meaning the underlying redness is reduced, and the breakouts I still get occasionally heal much quicker than they did before. In all honesty, the LED mask is my favorite. Not because the results are drastic, they aren't, but because I just look better if I use it and it is so easy and convenient, it requires the least effort."

"The one that I'm using right now is the CurrentBody mask. It's a shaped mask with the right specs, very accurate light bulbs, and the right amount of intensity, but not too much so it doesn't damage your skin. It's got a chin strap, with light bulbs under the chin and on the upper lip."

Last Faves + Fails of 2025! Best & Worst In Beauty...
"My current favorite red light therapy mask is this one from Current Body. It's one of the masks with the highest number of light bulbs. It's also the mask with the most accurate wavelengths in it. They've all been tested at the factory to be within two nanometers of the target correct wavelength. The current body has 112 each of the red and near infrared bulbs and it also has nine of the deep infrared bulbs. You really need to concentrate on the accuracy of the bulbs to start and then the number of bulbs. I like it that it's shaped. It's very comfortable to wear and it does come with the eye protection built in. And the other benefit that you get from this one is that it has this built-in under the chin strap. So, it treats you underneath there, which is awesome. And most of the masks don't have that. This is a very, very bright mask. When you put it on, if you are sensitive to light, this probably won't be the mask for you because it is so very bright."
BEST Black Friday Sales 2025 | Skincare | Makeup | Amazon |
"I saw that it was on sale for Amazon at $399 and I thought, you know what, that puts it in the ballpark with my favorite masks. I looked at the specs on it and it looks really, really good. The red wavelength is 635, what we're looking for is 633, so that's only two off, so that puts it right in the very accurate range. The near infrared is 830 and it also contains blue light at 415. If you also have acne or you want to share it with a kid, this has all three in one mask and it's got the most bulbs. It has 120 of each color bulb. There are three modes. Mode one is red and near infrared light. Mode two is red, near infrared, and blue light all on at the same time, which I don't think any other mask has. And mode three is blue light only. Most masks will have 50 or under. So that's a ton of bulbs in here. A mask with more bulbs, they're closer together, so it treats more of your skin more evenly, and that's really important in a mask."
Skincare Routine Update Summer 2025 Using My NEW Skincare! Restock Coming Soon!
"I've been using the mask for about 6 months now. The main difference is that this one is already shaped and it has a built-in strap under here to treat this part, which you don't really get with the Omnilux mask. This mask definitely is a little bit big on me under here. I can't say that I see a huge difference between using this one and using the Omnilux. Even though this one does have more light bulbs, I'm not sure that it's really giving me that much better of a treatment. I haven't really seen a quantitative difference. I think it's doing about the same job as my Omnilux mask. This is a really good one, but it's more expensive than the Omnilux. This is in like an over $400 price point."

"Current Body Skin LED light therapy mask. This is the one I call the best value in the professional-grade mask category. It's FDA cleared, uses 633 nanometer red and 830 nanometer near infrared, and the clinical data behind it is real. One of the most widely used masks globally, and for good reason. It performs at a level you'd expect from a device costing significantly more."

"I usually use the one from CurrentBody mostly because they gave me a lot of studies and everything that just show how well it works. I personally think this is just a good opportunity while your skin is nice and fresh and clean to get your red light therapy in."
My Favorite Anti-Aging Skincare Devices & Tools from Ziip, CurrentBody, & More! | Susan Yara
"I really like the CurrentBody and these flatter, more silicone-type masks because in my opinion they're really great for travel. I travel a lot and I can easily throw it into my suitcase and it doesn't make any difference. I can have the most jam-packed suitcase ever and still throw my LED mask into that top part because it just lays really flat. I probably use my LED mask about four times a week. Some of the things I really like about CurrentBody specifically is that they're one of the first companies to really put out this kind of professional LED mask, and also I like that they have lots of information that they're willing to give you as a company. They've done a lot of studies. They even have something that I want to say they call it like Pillow Tech or something, which basically means that the LED lights, the bulbs, aren't just directly hitting your face. They're actually spreading out throughout the mask so you're getting more of an even distribution of the LED light. I like that they point that stuff out. Now that there are so many masks on the market, you really want more information. It can't hurt you to have all this information, and if a brand is willing to give you all of that, then that makes me trust them more. That's why I go with the CurrentBody."

Lasers, Botox, and Skincare for HEALTHY AGING Explained by Dermatologists
"Consistent use of the LED mask is actually what makes a big difference. We've always been big proponents of the cure mask, and we've been big fans of the technology in general so whether you get one from Omnilux or Current Body or there's a new one from Shark Beauty or you get the one that we love from Cure, just using that consistently is going to see results. Specifically when we're talking about anti-aging we're usually talking about red light and infrared light and it stimulates that collagen production by stimulating those fibroblasts and by doing that your skin will be healthier for longer but you do have to be consistent. It is a technology that we do believe in."

"This was the very first LED mask I ever used. It's a smaller mask, so if you have a smaller face this might be a great mask for you. I was very happy with the results that I got from it, and there is nothing wrong with your basic LED mask, this one is one of my absolute go-to favorites. CurrentBody is a great reputable brand that has been around for quite a while, they have good technology behind their light system and it's a very reasonable price, plus you get 20% off using my code."

Best Skincare Treatments to Transform Mature Skin (Top 3 Devices & Top 3 In-Office Treatments)
"I have both the Omnilux and the CurrentBody masks they both are very similar they have red light and near infrared light to tackle both surface pigmentation and over time to produce collagen and elastin to help with fine lines I find the most immediate effect is that red light that helps with pigmentation. The masks are both pulsed continuous light and multicolored light so you really have to do a little bit of research to decide which is going to be best both economically for you and which is going to tackle the pigmentation problem that you're working on."
Best SKINCARE DEVICES for Mature Skin 2024 (I tried Over 20 Devices Over 50!)
"I love this mask, I got nice results, it reduced my redness. Only thing that I want to let you know is if you have a large face the lights might not cover all the areas, it might be a little bit short on the side of your face. Also this doesn't have an over the lip area whereas their new series 2 does have lights over the lip area. The only drawback the size of this mask and the fact that it doesn't cover the lip."

"I really like the concept of that one because I feel like with a lot of LED masks they tend to be very bulky and also kind of flimsy and easy to break. They're not ideal to carry around or bring in your suitcase. That one's nice because it's basically like covered in rubber or silicone which makes it very easy to bend and contour to your face. I would say out of the majority of them this one would be one of the more worth it ones just because it is more durable and less likely to break. However, $380 for an LED mask is still pretty absurd in my opinion, but it definitely is easy to use."

"The CurrentBody LED mask uses red light to help stimulate collagen, improve tone and texture on the skin, and promote healing. For me personally, I found the design of the CurrentBody mask to be very very comfortable, and I think it does deliver some really nice results. I've noticed some great benefits as far as skin texture and tone. It helps with dark marks and it particularly helps with healing, especially if you suffer with breakouts. When the skin breaks, when the skin peels, when a pimple pops, it really promotes healing. I think it's also a great preventative type of product to add into your routine if you have the funds and you're going to commit to it, as a preventative for collagen stimulation and just overall good preventative well-aging measures that we can take in skincare."

"I have been using every single night. You charge it up with a USB-C, I do it every night before I go to bed. It's got four settings so four different colors, red, yellow, orange, green, and then the combined of all of them. The battery life's amazing, I've charged it one time. I can see a difference in my skin, I really do. My skin's going through a little bit at the moment and honestly I think it's because I changed my toothpaste, I've come out with a rash and I'm desperately needing hydration, but I love that LED mask. I think I can see a big difference in like the tone of my skin more than anything. These are dead popular just now and I can see why, but I love mine."

"The one that other girl was using is this one, it's from CurrentBody and I've actually seen other people such as Sarah Palmyra use this as well. But as you can see, this one which I haven't started testing actually has these flat diodes which don't disperse light in the same way and again I don't think these work as well. When things are flat like this or when they don't have those bulges to them, that light isn't being dispersed properly."

The 10 BEST And WORST Red LED Skincare Devices
"I've seen these from like five different brands, this is the one from CurrentBody Skin. This one was not terrible but it wasn't great. I like that this one actually melds to the contours of your face so you can put it on, but the ear straps don't really work so you have to have like a jock strap in the back that secures it to your face. Look at how few diodes it has, like it doesn't even have that many diodes, and again they're not the bubbled type, they don't have that round dome on them. But anywhere that that diode is not directly smashed into the skin you're not really getting the benefits. To get the most bang for your buck you want something that does have that bubble or that dome and actually disperses the light evenly throughout the skin. I've seen a lot of influencers, a lot of just people online using this. I've actually had an aesthetic client who used it as well. CurrentBody does have some really good stuff but I feel like stuff like this, it's disappointing and then it kind of makes you question the other things in the brand as well. If you have this it's fine, it's not bad."

"The biggest problem I personally have with the Series 1 mask is that it just doesn't fit my face very comfortably. My favorite masks used to be the hard shell masks because I have a smaller face, and while the idea behind this style is great, it just didn't fit my face very well. It has 132 LED bulbs and matches the current research on wavelengths, and I think a gift recipient could still appreciate it, but personally I'd recommend the Series 2 instead."

I just love light therapy so much. It is such a great at-home treatment to brighten your skin, to stimulate collagen. It helps if you have any discoloration. It just helps to fade those areas and it really is a great product to use just for overall skin rejuvenation. It's just absolutely amazing. I do this every single morning. It's a 10-minute treatment every single day. And if I'm not using it in the morning, I will definitely use it at night time. I don't skip a day with my therapy. I used to only use it maybe like four or five times a week, but now I just use it every day because I just see better results. It's just a part of my everyday routine as well."

"This is the red light therapy mask series one, the very first original mask that they came out with and this is the first mask that I started using back I want to say four years ago. I've been talking about this mask for a really long time and I really love the results that you get from this. This is a 10 minute treatment that you will do every day or a few times per week. If you are new to ray therapy I would try to be as consistent as possible maybe use it every day or every other day for the first couple of weeks and then after that you can wean it down just for maintenance. This has both the red light and near infrared light technology and so the red light therapy contains a 633 nanometer whereas the near infrared light technology contains an 830 nanometer. This contains a silicone material that easily molds to your face. This wraps around your head and it has a button at the one end to turn on the bulbs so this contains 132 bulbs. When you are wearing this on your face you do feel a slight warming sensation, nothing crazy, it's not hot, it's not uncomfortable, it's actually very relaxing but I do want to let you know that there is a slight warming sensation."

"It can treat fine lines and wrinkles, it can help to reduce redness if you have discoloration or post-acne marks, this can help to fade those areas, and it does give that brighter complexion. And that's generally the first thing that you will notice when you start using red light therapy is that initial brightness to the skin. This has truly made the biggest difference. I have been using this for a couple of years now and I cannot recommend it enough. I use it twice a day because that's just how obsessed I am with red light therapy, but if you want to use this just a couple of days a week you can do that as well. It's a 10-minute treatment."

This one from CurrentBody has the red light as well as the near infrared light technology which is what you want. This is a 10-minute treatment that you do every day or three to four times per week. When I first started using this I was using this every day but now I might only use this three or four times per week which really is sufficient enough. Depending on how busy your lifestyle is you might only want to use this a few times per week or you may want to use it every day. You can use this in the morning as well as nighttime and you want to use this on clean skin, so make sure you don't have makeup or sunscreen on your face, cleanse your skin, use this for 10 minutes and then go in with your skincare afterwards."

"I have been talking about this for so many years with you guys. I love it. I still use it and honestly this has to be one of the best things I've ever introduced into my morning routine because this has really helped with my overall complexion. Red light as well as near infrared light technology which this mask has can help to stimulate new collagen, it can give that brighter complexion, help even out your skin tone, but also target fine lines and wrinkles. This can soften fine lines and wrinkles over time. This is a 10-minute treatment that you do every day or every other day, a couple of days a week, whatever you want to do. You can use this in your morning or you can use this at night time. Make sure you use this on clean skin and use this before you go in with your skincare products. I like to use this in the morning but sometimes I will use this at night time as well, it just depends on how I feel. It's very relaxing by the way, you can just lay there, put this on, this wraps around your head, and then of course there's a button here that you just press down and it turns the mask on, and then the mask will turn off automatically in 10 minutes or you can turn it off yourself by holding down that button again. It's very lightweight, it's mobile, and it really is effective."

"I love their LED light therapy mask. This is your red and near infrared light technology device that will help with signs of aging, to help soften fine lines, to achieve that brighter complexion. But if you do have that uneven skin tone where you have some dark spots and post acne marks, this will really help to give you that even skin tone in time. And when I had those post-acne marks, I do feel like red light therapy speeds that up and it gives me that even complexion a lot sooner than if I were just to let my skin do it on its own. This speeds it up and I love it. This is the original mask by the way. I've been using this now for over 2 years, the lights still work, I still see great results with this. This is something that you can use every day once a day or a couple of times a week, and it's a 10-minute treatment that you do. This will automatically turn off in 10 minutes, so you just put it on, this velcro piece wraps around the head, you can lay down, you can watch TV, you can do your thing, and again it is exceptional."

"You basically use it on freshly cleansed skin. Most people use it at night just before they go to bed. You can see the pop in pop out eye protectors, so you actually don't get any infrared going anywhere near or any red light going near your eyes. It's really comfortable. It comes in close contact with the skin. In 8 weeks, it's proven to reduce the signs of fine lines by 30%, increase plumpness by 57%. It boosts brightness. I think it's particularly good at reducing redness. It's a 10-minute treatment three to five times a week, but most people I know use it five to seven because they just love love love the results. You've got a 16-week money back guarantee and a 2-year warranty. FDA approved, cleared safe."

"It's red light only so you've got no risk of it irritating or flaring up melasma. It's a simple sequence of infrared and near infrared which are the two most proven anti-aging light wavelengths. But this is the important thing: it's the only one I know that's got a little bit that goes under the chin. I am now convinced that this is probably for my generation the best LED mask on the market. If your neck isn't actually that bad but you've got that little bit under there, this is the one. 10 minutes every single day."

"Current Body reached out to me and sent me their mask, which I like a lot better. It just contours to the face more. When it comes to the red light therapy, it's impossible to know that anything is happening because you need to be so consistent. I would say I use it like at least three times a week, so I have been consistent with it."

"This current LED mask is one of the best devices that I have used. It uses both red light and infrared light to deliver results. The penetration goes up to 4 mm deep in order to tighten the skin and also improve the quality of your skin and skin complexion. This mask uses the correct wavelength which penetrates deep enough to show you results and improvement in fine lines and wrinkles. The mask uses a patented pillow technology which allows exposure to every part of your face for optimal results. This device speeds up the healing process of the skin and helps in reducing pigmentation, inflammation and redness. It also helps to reduce rosacea and eczema. It is very comfortable to use."
