What they liked

  • Soft and gentle on hair
  • Absorbs water quickly, speeds up drying
  • Large size suits thick or long hair

What they flagged

  • Polyester at $60 is expensive for the material
  • Quality and durability have declined
  • Cannot go in the dryer, needs air drying

What the gurus are saying

This towel cuts drying time significantly by pulling moisture from hair fast, and its generous size makes it especially practical for those with long, thick, or curly hair. Gurus praise how gentle it is on strands and note it helps reduce frizz and heat damage in the styling routine that follows. However, it carries a premium price tag for polyester material, and some have found quality inconsistent across batches and durability shaky if machine-dried, so air drying is best.

"It says, 'I wasn't able to find the composition information on the Sephora listing for the product.' Which would be like, what's the ingredients? What's the material? 'When I received this, I was shocked to find that the towel is nearly $60 for polyester.' I'm guessing you could probably find something that's polyester for like $10 for your hair. For 60 bucks, I expect a lot more. There's another review. I bought one of these towels years ago despite the price, and [...] it's the best hair towel I ever owned. I figured it was time to refresh my supply, so I bought another one. Disappointed to find that it was made in a different place, and the material content was totally different, and the quality and workmanship has gone downhill. [...] People mentioned that they [...] put it in their dryers, and it just fell apart. [...] It needs to lay out to dry or something. Too high maintenance for my hair towels."

"I love this hair towel. It's really soft, gentle on hair to prevent any breakage. It helps reduce frizz and absorb excess water really quickly. It's really good for any hair type but especially if your hair is curly or damaged."

"I have to give a little shout-out to my Crown Affair hair towel. If you do not use a microfiber towel for your hair, it will change your life. It just cuts the drying time so much because it helps get moisture out of your hair. [...] I love that it helps pull water out of my hair faster. It's a huge towel, so it's really good if you have long hair, and it's super secure. I have given this as a gift many, many times, and you can even get it embroidered. It's just a very special, highly functional towel that really is just the best."

"I feel like I have to give Crown Affair another shout out here because the microfiber towel that they make is so good. I'm obsessed with this particular towel now. The beauty of the Crown Affair one is one, it's gorgeous, but two it's big, so if you have a lot of hair you're going to be able to get it all wrapped up in there and totally coated. If you have a lot of hair I think Crown Affair is like unmatched in how effective and nice it is. It's definitely a very luxurious towel."

"The huge like towel that you use for your hair especially if you have long hair or if you have thick hair or curly hair this is so absorbent and just absorbs so much water out of your hair that it makes blow drying or even air drying afterward faster."

"I love hair towels that help absorb additional moisture or water from the hair. One of my all-time favorites is the Crown Affair Microfiber Hair Towel. It's really big but very light, so it's great if you have a lot of hair and even if you don't have a lot of hair it's great at removing that moisture and it's super comfortable. The added value of a hair towel is that it doesn't just not add additional friction to your hair but it also will reduce your heat styling time. It'll make your hair air dry or blow dry faster so that you don't have to apply as much damage to it later on in your styling routine."

Dermatologist's Holiday Gift Guide: Beauty & Skincare Gift Ideas Under $25, $50, $100, and More!
"These highly absorptive hair towels really do make your routine more efficient because they help pull excess water from the hair so it's faster to blow dry and they help your hair health because you're not letting your hair sit around soaking in water which makes it more susceptible to damage. I am such a proponent of using anything that makes my routine more efficient and if in addition to that it helps the health of my skin or my hair then I am even more for it. This towel would be an amazing gift because even if you gift it to someone who already has a towel like this you can always use another one and if you gift it to someone who has never used a towel like this before you're going to change their life."

"I either bring the Aquis one or my bigger one from Crown Affair. I find the Crown Affair one is definitely more absorbent but I use this more at home because it's much bulkier. But both are excellent."
