"This is 1,000% one of those products that's been around for a long time and been popular for a long time, which really tells me something about the product. Not for me personally, but I can still say it's a good product. I actually like a lot about this. What really makes this popular is the texture. It looks like it's going to be this heavy cream, but it actually just melts down into a really thin gel, so breathable, so lightweight on the skin. It absorbs really fast and it really doesn't leave a greasy moisturizing finish like a lot of sunscreens can do. This is just so pleasing in the texture, so easy to use. There is some denatured alcohol in here, and that's such an amazing ingredient for sunscreens. I personally am very sensitive to this ingredient and it doesn't suit my skin, but I love alcohol in a sunscreen formula. There is some fragrance in here too, and some fragrant compounds, again, not my favorite for my personal skin, makes me itchy, but it smells good. They really nailed the scent. It smells like a really sophisticated modern, very light floral scent, and I actually really enjoy it. I find it very pleasant."

"When I used the COSRX Aloe Soothing Sun Cream which is literally like a moisturizer it changed my life... this is a big recommended sunscreen"

"One of my favorite favorite sunscreens to reach for is this, the COSRX Aloe Soothing Sun Cream. I love it not just because you're getting that guaranteed SPF 50 plus with great UVA protection that comes as standard, but because you've got ceramides and you've got so many different peptides in here. Peptides are great because they hydrate the skin, they'll plump out the skin to give you some immediate anti-aging, and over time they can even boost levels of collagen and elastin production. This just is flawless on the skin. It's slightly thicker than the other ones I've recommended, but you need that if you want that extra hydration. You need a little extra thickness to the texture. And this when you work it in still disappears without a trace, but you notice that behind it is left much more hydration than what you'd normally expect for a sunscreen. You could use this as a moisturizer and sunscreen in one, and it's just imparting all that amazing peptide benefit into the skin as you wear it. It's got that locked in protection, but I think the ceramides alongside the calming and soothing ingredients and those peptides make this one really really special."

    What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

    Sunscreen filters

Sun protection is the best evidenced way to slow visible ageing, and the filters are what does the work. Mineral and chemical filters both protect when a product is applied thickly enough and often enough, which is where most people fall short rather than on the choice of filter.

    Vitamin E

Vitamin E is an antioxidant, and it is often in a formula to keep the other ingredients stable rather than as the active itself. It pairs well with vitamin C, though on its own the evidence for visible change is limited.
