What the gurus are saying

This sunscreen doesn't pill or gum up under makeup, even thick foundation, making it a standout choice for makeup wearers and separating it from typical sunscreen-moisturizer hybrids. Gurus split on fragrance: some note a strong scent while others detect no smell at all. Beyond makeup compatibility, it earns praise for a hydrating, lightweight texture that can work year-round for both dry and oily skin.

"I will always have a soft spot for this sunscreen because it was one of the very first Korean sunscreens I used. That said, looking back at the formula now, I don't really love it. I really dislike how much fragrance is in it, which is bizarre because so many of this brand's other products are fragrance free. The rest of the formula doesn't particularly stand out and it's kind of heavy on the skin."

"The COSRX SPF 50 sunscreen formula is super affordable, it's a Korean sunscreen that works really well. We tried that product out and it's amazing, it feels so lightweight on your skin. It's one of my personal favorites, I actually recommended it in my best sunscreens of 2022 video."

"I bought this after a subscriber said Korean sunscreens were better than Japanese sunscreens, and this opened me to a whole new world of non-greasy, non-sticky, non-beach smelling sunscreens. It has a moisturizing texture and is slightly heavier than a standard chemical sunscreen, which is ideal for people with dry or oily skin. The key focus is the aloe ingredient because it's hydrating and soothing, plus glycerin. It feels very basic in a very necessary way. This is a sunscreen that can double as a moisturizer in the truest form, with a level of hydration I haven't tried in other sunscreen-moisturizer hybrids. Compared to other options, this is just like your hydrating, moisturizing moisturizer with the added benefit of sun protection. I love this; it's a cult favorite for a reason and a bestseller for a reason. It doesn't give you a dewy glow or hydrated-looking finish, but it settles on the skin quite well, and in summer that's absolutely fine. For both oily and dry skin types, you can wear this all year round as your moisturizer and sunscreen."

"This is the COSRX Aloe Soothing Sunscreen. It's an SPF 50 PA++++++++ and this one says it is formulated with aloe extract, butylene glycol, and the sunscreen protects skin against UVA and UVB rays while hydrating skin. What's amazing about this is that it doesn't pill. You could use this over a moisturizer and under a foundation, or you could use this in place of a moisturizer, but this one does not gum up. I had to try a lot of sunscreens to find ones that work under foundation. This one is a dream. It doesn't flash back. It works well under the thickest of foundations or the thinnest. And on top of that, it actually has ingredients that support the skin. It has glycerin, silica, and sulfonic acid. These can be very hydrating, and especially that silica gives us a nice slip, but it doesn't ball up no matter what you apply. And if you are someone who wears makeup every day, or if you haven't been able to wear sunscreen every day, even though SPF is your BFF, it just doesn't work under your makeup, and makeup has kind of been there for you when sunscreen hasn't, trust me, I understand. This is one that actually works."
