What the gurus are saying

The gurus found the concentration itself a major sticking point. One expert felt 35% is simply too high and leans toward gentler, consistent routines over intensive actives. Another noted the peel is stronger than comparable products, though the inclusion of PHA and LHA makes it gentler than a straight 30% AHA would be. That said, those already using exfoliants regularly may want to skip the once-weekly recommendation and use it a few times weekly instead. One practical note: the plastic tube dispensing is a bit sticky, so getting product out takes effort.

"This one is 35% which is just way too high in my opinion. Skincare is about moderation and often times the best results come with a long-term use of a gentle product. The Ordinary peel is strong for like once in a while, but 35% I was like that's just too much. Even the Ordinary peel gave so many people reactions because it's not made for sensitive skin, but I feel like 35% even if it does have a good ingredient list is just way too excessive. I think for 2024 we're in our healing era we don't need these super powerful actives but rather just a good consistent gentle skincare routine."

"Cosrx released a peel that's actually a little bit stronger than The Ordinary. They say it's 35% peel with AHA, BHA, PHA, and LHA so you've got all of them going on here. The one from The Ordinary is 3% AHA and 2% BHA. However, I will mention that the LHA and PHA in here are going to be super gentle, much more gentle than 30% AHAs. They recommend using it once a week, but if you use exfoliants regularly, I think you're better off using exfoliants a few times a week instead of just doing it once a week. It comes in a plastic tube and it's not coming out very easily."
