What the gurus are saying

The gurus who weighed in flagged some significant concerns rather than endorsing the brand. One expert points out that COSRX was removed from PETA's cruelty-free list in 2024 because the brand cannot independently confirm whether their ingredient suppliers or distribution partners test on animals, meaning its cruelty-free status is unclear. Another notes that the brand's recent viral popularity has made counterfeit versions widespread online, so anyone interested needs to buy only from authorised retailers to avoid fakes.

"Cosrx was removed from PETA's cruelty-free list as of 2024. Cosrx responded to an email saying they are unable to confirm whether their raw material suppliers or distribution partners conduct animal testing independently. Basically, we don't really know if the people they're buying their product ingredients from test on animals. And where it's sold, they started selling in China as well. So they're not really cruelty-free, but they don't like testing on animals. That's just where they are because money is typically more important in some ways."

"COSRX is a Korean brand. Nowadays, any brand that is going super viral in the past six, seven months, fakes of those brands start getting made really quickly, and people will start selling them on websites. So you need to be careful about where you're buying from."
