What the gurus are saying

The guru consensus is skeptical. Experts consistently describe CoolSculpting as outdated and limited in results, noting it reduces fat thickness by only around 20% and works best only on small, localized pockets of fat. The recurring complaint is that patients seeking significant body contouring end up disappointed after spending money with minimal visible change, and that newer heating-based technologies now outperform it. For minor double chin softening it may help, but doctors steer patients toward surgery for substantial reshaping.

"I see a lot of patients that come to me for liposuction procedures and it's like, 'Yeah, I tried this, I tried that, but I didn't get the results I was looking for.' I'm assuming people have tried things like CoolSculpting and all that stuff too and then they come to you and they're just really unhappy."

"I would not do it. I absolutely would not do it. Freezing the fat is they have found is not quite as effective as heating it up. So, I would do something more of a sculpture than I would a CoolSculpting. It's kind of a little bit outdated at that point. There's newer things on the market for that."

"CoolSculpting has been around for a long time and it works by basically freezing the fat below the skin. The skin itself is much heartier than the fat underneath it and so when you chill it to a certain temperature those fat cells can crystallize they essentially die and your body clears it naturally. The issue that I have with doing this procedure on Mama June is that you can reduce the thickness with CoolSculpting by maybe 20% with a neck like Mama June's that's going to be like spitting in a lake it's not going to do anything significant to her neck. If you have a little bit of extra fat in the double chin area then this can definitely help it, but there ain't no way this CoolSculpting is going to take care of a neck like that."

"You can reduce the thickness with CoolSculpting by maybe 20%. With a neck like this, that's going to be like spitting in a lake, it's not going to do anything significant. If you have a little bit of extra fat in the double chin area, then this can definitely help it. It's also used in other parts of the body like the abdomen, like the arms, and really any area that you've got stubborn small areas of fat that you want to reduce. But in this situation, honestly, if she came to see me and said hey I don't like my neck, I'd tell her that really the only option for you is to do a face and neck lift. Anything less than that is going to be very disappointing. She's going to feel bad that she spent the money and saw very little results with it. If you want to do this CoolSculpting, you can spend $1,000, $2,000 on it and get this much change. Is it really worth it?"
