What the gurus are saying

This powder divides testers based on how well it grips different hair types and textures. One dermatologist praises its staying power and versatility, using it on both grays and brows, while others found it shed onto the forehead or simply didn't hold on their own hair. The fit seems to depend on your hair's porosity and how the powder bonds to it, so patch-testing on a small section first may help you know whether it will work for you.

"I got the Color Wow root coverup powder in blonde, the company had sent it to me, and I kind of thought it was horrible, it wasn't doing anything to cover up my roots. Then I used it on my mom's grays and it actually worked so well, so I gave it to her. It's just interesting, while I was using it on my own roots I was thinking this is terrible, meanwhile on my mom it worked. It goes to show how we can have such massively different experiences."

"I know so many of you guys love this product and I don't get it. It has never worked for me. I tried it years ago, but so many people tell me that they love it that I was like I gotta try it again, maybe it was user error, maybe I did something wrong. The powder falls out of my hair and it ends up on my forehead and I forget that it's going to do that, go about my day, and then someone inevitably is like you have dirt on your forehead. I go in the bathroom to look at it and it's this. It has come somehow sprinkling out of my hair, even though I use the brush to rub it in, make sure it's in there good, and then rub it in with my fingers. It's still, it just doesn't stay put on me. Plus I find that it fades away over a couple of days, whereas with the sprays they really stay in there like they stay in until you wash it out."

"This is one that I've purchased only once and it lasts a long time, but I use it on the grays of my scalp, and I also sometimes use it lightly on my eyebrows to fill in those gaps that are missing."
