What the gurus are saying

One expert found it genuinely gentle and moisturizing, with a milky texture that cleanses without stripping or leaving residue, and praised it especially for sensitive skin and combination or acne-prone types. She noted a little goes a long way. However, another dermatologist had a past experience with a Cocokind product that caused facial redness and irritation, so those with very reactive skin may want to patch-test first to be safe.

"This is a prebiotic oat cleanser that is super gentle and very moisturizing on the skin. This will never strip your skin but this will also not leave a heavy film on the skin once you've rinsed it off. This really is lovely especially if you do have more of that sensitive skin type, but it doesn't matter whether you have sensitive skin or not, this is still fabulous. I have combination skin and I am acne prone and I love this. When you first start using it, it will be like a little oily, but once you add some water it does turn into this really beautiful milky cleanser and it cleanses the skin really nicely. All you need is the littlest amount, especially in your morning routine. This is one of the best, especially from the drugstore. Cocokind is one of my favorite drugstore brands. The brand feels very luxurious to me and it also feels very high-end."

"This is almost the identical texture in that it is hydrating, it is soothing on skin, it gives you that first cleanse of a double cleanse feel, but it does not separate. It doesn't separate in the bottle or in your hands. It has sunflower oil and grape seed oil and some lactobacillus ferment. This is hydrating and best for really dry skin, or if you're oily like me you can use this as a double cleanse. I find that this really breaks down oil and makeup extraordinarily well. The formula is amazing and very comparable if not a level up from the Inkey List."

"This has oak kernel oil that's really good for gentle cleansing and is packed with humectants and antioxidants, this actually looks pretty good."

"Cocokind put their oat, oh this is new. I was, I thought it was their oat cleanser but this is new, this is an Oil to Milk Cleanser. Interesting, I'd like to give that a try sometime. Did have a bad run-in with one Cocokind product, I can't remember which one it was, but it did cause some facial redness and irritation for me."

What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E is an antioxidant, and it is often in a formula to keep the other ingredients stable rather than as the active itself. It pairs well with vitamin C, though on its own the evidence for visible change is limited.
