What the gurus are saying

Gurus who love them praise the softness, hygiene of using a fresh towel each time, and eco-friendly materials, though they acknowledge the waste trade-off. Skeptics argue the active ingredients don't meaningfully treat acne and call them overpriced paper towels. The split hinges on whether convenience and feel justify the disposable format; converts often report difficulty returning to regular towels.

"I've gone through two boxes, one and a half boxes of these. They came out with a new version of this called healthy aging which I absolutely love. I always return to these. These are the absolute best. If you don't like the feel of a washcloth, if that's too rough for you, which it is for me, if you don't want your laundry soap and softener in your skin, I used to use a makeup eraser towel. I just find that this gives my skin just a whole lot less irritation. So I have switched over to those I think gosh three years now. The clean skin club towel company is amazing. They are just so reputable."

"I also included in my husband's skincare routine the Clean Skin Club towels. I also introduced my mother to these. They are perfect for easy cleansing. No drips, no mess. These actually have glycerin in them. They're their new anti-aging formula. Love these. Everyone that I've finally convinced to try them loves them."

"Clean Skin Club, one of my favorite cleansing cloths ever. I have ditched my washcloths in favor of these. They're one for blemishes, their original towel, and then their one for mature skin with a touch of glycerin. They're biodegradable from viscose bamboo."

"These Clean Skin Club towels are sort of silly in my opinion. I think they're kind of glorified paper towel. We're drying our face with an active ingredient infused towel. Acne breakouts are not a hygiene issue. You can just frequently wash your towel in hot soapy water."

"These Clean Skin Club towels were all the rage on TikTok a year or so ago. I did a whole video about people using these to dry their face claiming that it was a game changer for clearing their skin, which is just like so misleading."

"I love these things. Paper towels feel rough as a pine cone compared to these Clean Skin Club towels. I ran out of these on one of my counters and I grabbed a paper towel and I used it and I was like, 'Oh my gosh, this feels horrible compared to a clean skin club towel.' And they're made of bamboo. So there is a lot of eco thought that goes into these. Even though they are a little wasteful, they're actually much more sustainable than anything else you would use, including paper towels."

5 Things We Would NEVER Do as Dermatologists
"When you first told me about these, I was pretty resistant to this concept of using a paper towel on your face. But the more practical this has become for me, as somebody who just has to do so many loads of laundry for a new daughter, I don't have time to be washing my towels all the time. Having a clean towel on your countertop in a box that's soft, that's much softer than a regular paper towel. There is a waste that occurs here, and that's one of the things that I don't like about these paper towels is that it is wasteful in some ways. However, the practicality and the fact that I'm using a new clean towel every single time when I wash my face is really nice. All of our towels are white, so if my wife is wearing makeup or I'm using a tinted sunscreen, sometimes those white towels don't wipe wash off completely and they end up stained on that towel. It is kind of nice to get to use a clean towel every time and make sure you're not damaging your towels from whatever else is on your face. There is some practicality to this that for some reason has become like a guilty pleasure of mine. They go so far as far as I think is reasonably possible to minimize waste and to support the environment."
6 DERMATOLOGIST CLEANSING HACKS TO IMPROVE YOUR SKIN
"I had my initial gut reaction that this was unnecessary, like wasteful. But I had them, used them, and I was like, it's impossible to go back. The reason these are like what we like these for is every single use is obviously clean. It's fresh. The material can be made of different things including bamboo, but it's relatively eco-friendly. And then it just feels like fabric. This is not like rough. It is the softest thing you'll put on your skin. And it's also very clean. So I think for someone who has a little bit of an expendable budget or if you feel like this would fit into your lifestyle, I think this will do right by you and you'll be very happy with how this plays with your skin. The quality is just so good. And once you kind of get into this, it's kind of hard to go back."
Best Products of the Year (PART 2): Best Innovation, Cleanser, Sunscreen, and Splurge
"Clean Skin Club towels, I love these and I know that I get flack because of how much I love them but I keep coming back to them. My nurses like to steal them from my products. There's a day-to-day utility with these and a practical application that just really makes it an extraordinary product. You'll find yourself using way more than you thought you would. The technology in these towels is actually quite nice. They're biodegradable towels so they're a little bit better for the environment even though they are disposable. They have the bamboo ones and then they have the regular cellulose ones but ultimately it feels really nice on the skin. There's utility at home for you to use a different towel every day."

"The Clean Skin Club biodegradable makeup wipes are extra large and they're really good. I feel like they actually get the makeup off my face and don't leave a film, whereas other wipes like Neutrogena would rub stuff around my face and leave a film on it. As with any makeup wipe they're always going to leave some gunk behind, it's not the same as cleansing your face, but I haven't been able to find a makeup wipe that works as well as these."
