What the gurus are saying

These brushes have fallen out of favor for being too harsh for regular daily use. They were heavily marketed to make people feel their normal finger-and-cleanser routine was inadequate, a sales strategy more than addressing a genuine cleansing need. Some reviewers found value in using the brush to help with foundation application, though most still prefer the gentler option of silicone sponges.

"I always used to use a cleansing brush like the Clarisonic, which made me think I couldn't have a proper effective cleanse unless I had a brush scrubbing at my skin twice a day. But they basically went out of business for the same reason I stopped using them: it just became too harsh, and people realized they needed a gentler approach to cleansing."

"If you grew up in the early 2000s the Clarisonic facial cleansing brushes were everywhere and I feel like they did a really good job marketing themselves and making people feel like they weren't appropriately cleansing their face with their cleanser and their fingers"
Mixed
"I like the brush for the foundation application for cleansing though I found I really just like these little silicone sponges"
