    What the gurus are saying

Ceramides and centella work together to hydrate and soothe while also supporting skin barrier repair, with emerging research suggesting centella may help stimulate collagen production for mild anti-aging benefit. The serum is clinically shown to repair moisture barrier within a week and is lightweight enough for both morning and evening use, making it a solid option for those with dry or sensitive skin who want multi-active support without irritation.

"For something a little bit more affordable in the over the counter and drugstores is Cetaphil, their Restoring Ceramide Face Serum. This is a really lovely one, especially for those with dry and sensitive skin. And it's got lots of great actives that not only helps to soothe and hydrate the skin, support the skin barrier, but also offer some skin rejuvenation benefits at the same time. So, it's got ceramides that we know is really important, but also centella. Centella is anti-inflammatory but there's actually great emerging studies that show centella also helps to stimulate fibroblast and basically support fibroblast ability to make collagen. So in many ways it actually does have skin rejuvenating and basically anti-aging benefits. And also has elotone that we know is hydrating and soothing. This is a great serum to add on for those that are more sensitive or maybe looking for a peptide alternative."

"My next serum recommendation for dry sensitive skin is the Cetaphil Restoring Ceramide Face Serum that can be used AM or PM. This is a new serum from Cetaphil. It's designed for those with really sensitive and dry skin. It's a multi-active solution designed to support skin barrier while repairing and soothing that discomfort and reducing any redness and inflammation. It's clinically proven to significantly repair your skin moisture barrier in one week. It's super lightweight, non-irritating, specifically designed to defend against the five signs of skin sensitivity, which is your dryness, irritation, roughness, tightness, and weakened skin barrier. It's also clinically tested on sensitive skin. The key ingredients here are the ceramide and pikamperamide and allantoine."

"It feels really nice, there's no scent to it which is also nice. It does have a slightly tacky finish that's not terrible. The disappointing thing is it's called a ceramide serum but it only contains one ceramide and it's pretty far down the ingredient list, which is kind of a bummer. There's not a whole ton of ceramides in here. But the nice thing is it does have panthenol which is great for soothing your skin, has sodium PCA which is great for fighting acne, and then we've got centella asiatica extract which is great for soothing your skin. So it's got some nice ingredients in there. For acne prone skin it's really friendly. The main ingredient I'd note is carbomer which isn't very acneic at all, it's pretty low on the scale. The main three ingredients are water, propylene glycol and glycerin, and glycerin is one of those ingredients that does tend to leave a sticky tacky finish. But it's a serum so you're going to use this early on in your routine and later on you're probably going to use a moisturizer."
