SA Lotion for Rough and Bumpy Skin.

"CeraVe SA Lotion has ammonium lactate plus salicylic acid, so it has two things working on that rough dry bumpy skin, and salicylic acid is also anti-inflammatory which helps because keratosis pilaris bumps are often inflamed. It also has three essential ceramides in MVE technology for slow release hydration, hyaluronic acid for moisture retention, and vitamin D, which the AmLactin product doesn't have. It's around a dollar ninety four per ounce, about thirty cents more per ounce than AmLactin, but I actually do think it's worth it in the long run, you're getting additional ingredients and CeraVe's ceramide technology does consistently demonstrate benefit in clinical studies. It's a lightweight lotion that absorbs quickly and isn't greasy, and in my experience it doesn't sting the way the AmLactin product does, even on a paper cut. It does use parabens as a preservative, so if you're allergic to or irritated by parabens you'd want to avoid it and choose AmLactin instead. I've gotten feedback that it works well on the face too, though I'd still say proceed with caution since it's formulated for the body."

"For the rough and bumpy line, CeraVe has the SA lotion, SA cream, and SA body wash. The SA stands for salicylic acid. These are different than the previous brands I mentioned because these contain salicylic acid as well as lactic acid. For these, we do not know the percentage of these acids, so we cannot really easily compare the brands. I like salicylic acid as an ingredient to treat KP because we know that it collects preferentially in the hair follicles and the oil glands, so it does a really good job smoothing out the bumps of KP. Research studies in our dermatology literature show that both salicylic acid and lactic acid are effective at treating KP, but lactic acid seems to be even more effective than salicylic acid. So I still give the nod to AmLactin products, but regardless, I think these definitely can help as well, especially if you are a really big fan of salicylic acid. This is a really reasonable option."
